Trademarking a name, no matter how stupid, is just a way of protecting himself. Some person filed for a Kenny Football trademark after the game against SC. Now that he's publicly using the moniker Kenny Tril he will forever be associated with that name. If someone else were to trademark it and profit from it, Hill would be in violation of the NCAA because of using the nickname. With his family trademarking it, it ensures that no one can profit from it until he is a professional, and keeps him from being in violation because of profiting from it.

Also, Kenny Tril is one of the worst nicknames ever.

It's hard to explain, but growing up in the South, there is so much tradition about college sports, especially football. You are almost given a team at birth. The level of competitiveness and raw talent really draw me to it more than pro football. That is not say I don't watch it, but given the choice, I would watch college football any day. That sweet electric atmosphere in a stadium full of fans on a crisp fall day is hard to beat. (God help me for agreeing with a UGA fan... [IMG] )

I used to live in Ohio there is an Ohio state following that I would be interested in seeing how it compares with the mania of the sec schools. I am not a buckeye fan and I got sooooooo tired of everywhere I went all I heard and saw was stuff about the buckeyes. I didn't even live in Columbus. Try working in an environment where you are the lone ND fan amongst ND haters and buckeye rabids.

Try being an Auburn fan in the state of Alabama, where everyone that's not affiliated with Auburn is a Bama fan. However, there are two types, one actually went to school there, and your basic Walmart Bammer.

That's how it used to be in Texas, but now all the bandwagon Longhorn fans are burning their longhorn shirts.

This is a great example of the entertainment factor they were talking about.

I'm actually taking a sports marketing class (yeah it's a real thing) and we were talking about it the other day how it's a very southern thing to prefer college football.

I remember those days too. My mom graduated from A&M so I was always the odd one out who liked the Aggies.

    Smart plan. Stupid nickname.

    Courtesy of Urban Dictionary:

Trill (adj.): used in hip-hop culture to describe someone who is considered to be well respected, coming from a combination of the words "true" and "real".

"Trill ass nigg*z keep it true and real."

The majority of Georgian's claim to be Georgia fans. However, there are many different types of "fans." Allow me to elaborate, if I may:

    1. the true die-hard: this is the guy who is keeping up with high school players, can name every player on the field, including the 3rd string offensive lineman, and knows virtually every statistic from every Georgia game ever. This is the guy that you don't want to play against in Madden or NCAA because they know exactly every play to pick…even the defensive ones!; these are a rare breed...I only know 1.

    2. the true fan: I fall into this category. I've got better things to do than keep up with a 15 year old freshman who might commit to UGA in 2017, but I can tell you every key player for the team, what games they'll win, and my personal opinion of each coach and player. Whether Georgia is 0-12 or 12-0, I was there from the moment I could yell, "GO DAWGS!"

    3. The classic bandwagon fan: Oh, UGA's ranked #3 going into the first game?! Good thing I've been a fan for so long…time to go buy every shirt, bumper sticker, and hat in the tri-state area! These are the most annoying fans who have no idea what the fuck is going on. They want to be there when times are good, but when times are bad, you'll see this piece of shit wearing a Bama shirt. They're generally the ones at the party that is a few seconds late on celebrations.

    4. The Wal-Mart Dawgs fan: this is what gives UGA and the South a bad reputation. This guy probably has a Georgia tattoo and wears the crappiest UGA clothes (They're usually sleeveless or 2-3 sizes too big). They know nothing about Georgia football, but are usually the first ones to yell "Go Dawgs" when they see a person with a Georgia shirt. No one in their family has graduated from college. This guy only watches college football as an excuse to drink a 30 pack of Busch and to pass the time until the race starts.

    5. The booster: this fancy mother fucker doesn't care about the game, but he donates like 100 grand to the program every year, so we like him. He's usually the dude at the tailgate/party with a MILF of a wife and dressed like he just walked off Augusta National.

Although, I don't go to UGA (I go to Georgia State), I've always been a huge fan. And I will be applying to UGA law school next month, so I may actually be a Dawg in the future!

You confused alumni and boosters. Alumni graduated from the school. Boosters give money. I have plenty of friends that are alumni but don't give 100000 a year to FSU.

But most boosters that would give up 5 or 6 figures to a school...or even 7...are usually alumni

very true. After he made the point about the booster, I didn't want to group all alumni with the booster, though.

seems like a lot of schools have donned new uniforms. Heck they don't even keep the school colors real anymore.

Georgia did wear the Nike Pro Combat jerseys against Boise State in 2011 and they were never seen again, IIRC. We like to stick with tradition :D

I loved our combat jerseys. At least they kept the schools colors intact

There's a lot of bandwagon aggies right now. More than I've seen in a long time.

I wasn't completely against Georgia's. Hell, my avatar is the Pro Combat helmet. I just didn't like how it was red pants and red shirt. They should've stuck with silver britches.

I liked the ghost tiger stripes on the helmet. Looked badass in person. Not sure how well it translated on TV though

    Head unit. That's it.

I have asked this many times, and still haven't gotten a solid, palpable answer.

What in the world makes "going to school" at a university a prerequisite for being a fan? What, so you paid 25k+ a year, so now you can be a fan? That is a silly metric.

I was born in Birmingham, lived in Hoover, and was transplanted to this God forsaken state of Indiana. My diploma is from South Bend....but I'm not a fan of Notre Dame. Do I hate Notre Dame? No. But I'm not a fan of their football team. I respect their tradition and history, but not a fan.

Am I supposed to be a fan of Notre Dame?

I think it's more natural to be a fan of whatever school you attended. :notsure: I'm a big MSU fan because I'm getting paid to go here.
