That's because they were made better and had less stuff in them. My two 2000 tacomas were both awesome in the rattle department. It took the entire warranty period to get all the rattles worked out in my fj cruiser. The tacoma is shaping up to be the same.

bbumbles -- I have the exact same noise on my 2014. It happens mainly when I'm accelerating, but not as much over 35 mph. Same as you -- the passenger side. I can't seem to find it, having tried pressing on most things I can reach while driving. I can't wait until this is isolated.

Are you pushing down on the dash just above the passenger airbag? If so, I can tell you how I was able to fix my rattle.

Mine is not the dash I say its eather the seat or the buckle assembly on the piller that raises up and lowers. Mine is also not all the time you have to get the right bump/vibration to hear the noise. Happens once out of 5 bumps its just odd and not easy to catch.

On my taco both front headrests rattle. Ive thought about wrapping some tape around the bars that go into the seat to tighten things up, since that seems to be where its coming from. Haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

As far as the door seals go, i "lubricated" mine with some spray wax while i was cleaning the truck over 2 months ago. Did the trick and haven't heard the creaky door seals since.

The noise appears to be coming from the area around the drivers side of the radio.

Makes sense. There's not a while lot of bells and whistles with this truck. That's how I like it. Less that can go wrong.

Ok its definitely coming from the passenger seat if I hold it no noise. How do I fix it?

ok, you're going to need a couple volunteers. The front row passenger is needs to apply pressure on the glove box door door with their left hand while simultaneity applying pressure to the front and rear door panels. You, being the driver.. need to set the cruise control, apply pressure to the driver side door panels AND shifter/center column. the rear passenger can observe, since they are not driving.. easier to for them to focus on where the vibration.. er, rattle is REALLY coming from.

I write all this in jest, because our Tacoma is starting to develop rattles in the the rear doors and front right passenger door. But what the heck, it's got almost 2600 miles on it now.

Same issue here on my 2012. It's the seat and nothing else. When I hold my arm against the seat the rattle stops completely. I'm going to look at the track and see if I can tighten some things up.

Found a solution for mine today. For starters my seat was set all the way back in the track. This caused the seat to vibrate tremendously. When I would hold my arm against the seat while driving the rattle would stop. I moved the seat up in the track to be even with my driver's seat. This greatly reduced the vibration in the seat going over bumps. I parked it and opened the passenger door and started to hit the seat creating the vibration motion myself and pinpointed that the rattle was coming from just under the headrest at the top of the seat. Probably where the post go down into the seat. I had my headrest set all the way down. I pulled the passenger headrest up just above where the notches are and left it set in between the top two notches. Drove to the gym and back and no rattle noise at all driving on the same roads that caused the vibration and rattle noise before. Such a nice, quiet ride now. I'm hoping this will be the solution for now. Let me know if you guys try this and have any luck. It's basically the most simple solution to the issue I could think of.

5100's all around with OME 884 at 0. Weathertechs, Carhartt seat covers. BFG KO2's 265/70/17. T4R SEMA wheels. 18% tint on front windows. General Springs HD 4 leaf pack, Leer 100 XR shell.
traced mine down today to the passenger seat. dont know the fix but we rode around for an 20 minutes until i jumped in the back and finally heard the rattle.

weight on the seat eliminates it. if you hit the passenger seat square from the upper left to right it makes the rattling noise i hear when im driving by myself

I remember have an annoying rattle a few times in my Taco. On both occassions the rattle was the passenger seat belt rattling against the door and the rear seat belts not clip in its place properly and rattling against the back door.

One other time it was something stored in the console.
