The government only cares about the citizens to the extent necessary to retain power. If you think anyone in government gives a pinch of shit about anyone, kids or otherwise, you're kidding yourself.
A government of, by, and for the people hasn't existed in my lifetime as evidenced by the (unconstitutional) fact that they are exempt from many of the laws that they subject their subjects too.

I pretty much agree with you. Can't say how I really feel or I will get a demerit.

Will you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give the food issue a rest here? We are talking about people smoking a cigarette in a car with kids inside said car. Yes, of course bad food causes problems, and this causes problems, and that causes problems. Sure, we can't fix EVERYTHING at one time, but at least this is ONE step in the long stairs of trying to protect our children.

Always on the what if's and worst case situations aren't you? I am almost beginning to think you are arguing just for argument sake. Let's not create a law against X because MAYBE Y laws could result from it. You say that a lot. Well you YOURSELF said that we would have to have doctors PROVE that a kid in a car around smoke actually DID get sick. Well I say the same to you. How can you PROVE or know then, that a law against smoking in a car will end up with more laws against smoking? I am beginning to think you don't have any children because to be honest, you sure sound like you could care less if one or two or even a dozen kids get sick or die from this, as long as you and yours have your freedom to smoke whenever and wherever you want. An overwhelming majority of the people who have voted in this poll disagree with you. Just because we disagree with you does not make us "sheep" or government takeover fanatics. It means we care. Not that you DON'T care, but that the general populous cares about the children.

Sooooooooooooooooo pretty much everyone agrees that smoking in a car or house should not be done when children will be breathing in the toxic waste.

We will all never agree on how to stop children from being exposed to it.
What I will say is I confront anyone doing so in public, just like I do to people I see littering, or belittling their children in public.

Speak up and fight for what you believe to be right!

Agreed. Of course not the easiest thing to yell at someone going the other direction in the road. lol. Not that it CAN'T be done of course. But I guess many of us will disagree with HOW to do it.

    Agreed

Your point about the law being potentially unenforceable is the only logical arguement against it , the whole "new laws = the government chipping away at our freedom " stance doesn't move me at all

Here we can rat people out with #77 or some sh*t when they are breaking the law in a car/truck.

Either way you can always try and take the law into your own hands and perform a citizens arrest for child endangerment (if it's legal to do so in your state).

Fight for what you want as hard as you can. When you die you can always look back proudly knowing you tried your best to change the world as best you see fit.

I was at a town hall meeting last week (I go to most of them) and I had never seen so many people attend. The reason you ask? Some DB bought our local golf course and renamed it XXXXX - Philadelphia. We are in NJ so they took offense to it and the sign. NJ morons were willing to attend this meeting like they were giving out free cars, but when we vote on the school budget the hall is empty.

    I H8 people

You guys have a good weekend!

Everyone's keeping it pretty civil unlike many threads on similar topics that would of been locked immediately.

Nice to get into a adult conversation once in a while and debate different thoughts/feelings without being called a douchebag or a**hole online. Gives me hope in TW

I especially liked many of your posts and think they were well written.

Thanks, I'm trying to keep it civil. There is a little asshole on one of my shoulders though trying to convince me otherwise though. I think he beat up the nice guy the other day...

End of first post in my build page has a different view. ;)

I also have a thread of pics I took that have some older shots of her from a few years back. Once I get around to editing these photos I took recently I'm going to update that page as well.

Do some research. There are a LOT of centenarians that smoke. I mean a large percentage. In 2006, the ten oldest people on earth all smoked. I'm not saying it's good for you, but it is kind of an interesting fact. My theory is that we have evolved around campfire smoke, wildland fire smoke, etc for thousands of years and our bodies are adapted to it.

Wood smoke and what you inhale from the end of a cigarette are not exactly the same thing
