I have a question for all of those who are not happy with the PRO not being equipped with a tow package. What exactly is it that you are towing?

I tow a car on a trailer. Not a lot, but sometimes. 3400lbs wet + trailer weight (varies). Trailer has brakes so would need the 7 pin, battery, alt... and the other elements for towing any reasonable distance.

Boat. Around 4700 lbs. I want the wiring harness, the oil and trans cooler. If I didn't need to tow something, I'd keep my car or buy a wrangler. This vehicle without a true factory tow package is useless to me. (Not saying that is the case for everyone, just me)

Yeah it wasn't on the Baja either. TRD skid plate probably costs in the ballpark of $35 to manufacture if that. Pretty cheap on Toyota's part and a small price to pay to make their potential customers feel like they are getting their money's worth.

Nice! Be sure to add some pics here when you get it. Also verifying nav would be great.

    Congrats on the new truck!

X2 would buy a full size truck before I spend 40k on a tacoma.

Autodim with home link is another unlisted item in the TRD pro package. Every one I have seen has it.

In regards to the last two comments about it being too much, thanks?

I'm not paying $40K for mine. I tried to get a black 2014 Baja but it was sold before I could get there, so I'm going this route. I will post pics and answer questions tomorrow when I get home.

If I spend $35k+ on a truck it won't be a Tacoma, I don't care what minor cosmetic changes they made for the 2015 model year. It seems like Toyota would have tried to keep the price down (on a truck that hasn't changed much since 2005) with a new mid-size truck, which appears to be a pretty nice truck, hitting the market.

it's not just about towing. you get engine and trans oil coolers to help extended the life of them. and a bigger battery and alternator.

No offense, but it looks like you've spent 40k on your Tacoma already.

I would guess most who have purchased a new Tacoma and installed a lift, wheels, tires, and other after market bits have spent at least $40k if not more just look at your receipts. Sticker on my Pro was $38 and some change I had the dealer add a clear bra, bed mat, and the skid plate for $37,250 plus tax. I understand the towing package adding additional life to some of the components, but if you are towing even a small boat why aren't you buying a Tundra or some other full size truck? I couldn't even imagine pulling my car or boat behind my Tacoma when Diesel trucks exist.

The tow package has a Class IV hitch ... 650 pound tongue weith ... 6500 pound towing.

My brother with an F-250 was impressed.

He must be an older brother trying to make you feel good. Seriously why bother buying a Tacoma as a tow vehicle?? His F250 can pull a 5th wheel & boat at the same time up a hill at highway speeds. Try that with your Tacoma. On the flip side I doubt he can park his truck anywhere or actually explore any sort of technical trail.
