It's called compromise. Sometimes you buy a vehicle to do a few things you specifically want to and then just make sure it's at least able to do 1 or 2 things you need to.

If I'm towing 6000lbs just once a year, why would I go buy a giant diesel truck?

A Tacoma can easily tow 6000lbs once in a blue moon. Now, if I towed 6000lbs every day then yes, maybe I would re-think having a Tacoma since being near the maximum tow rating every day would seem like it would get taxing on the truck.

Plus, who cares how much the F250 could tow. If his regular tow weight with the Tacoma is 2000lbs then it doesn't really matter, does it? The Tacoma can easily do highway speeds up a hill with 2000lbs behind it.

He IS my older brother, how did you know? Ha. He DOES tow a camper with a 5th wheel and ALSO has a boat ... I hate him ... ha.

He has been busting my ass since 1984 when I bought my 1st Toyota pick-up. Our dad had a Ford dealership when he passed away in '74. I am sure somewhere he was pissed at me at one time.

I think what I meant to say that he was truly impressed with the PreRunner's abilities.

I don't want a full size truck. 4700 lbs on the scales for my boat, I don't understand why people think you need a huge truck when you have to tow something....

Exactly... Compromise. I want a daily driver, utility vehicle that is easy to maneuver in the city, but can tow my car when I want to take it far places. Oh. I want it to look cool and do off road things too!

I just feel like everyone here is complaining about the price of the truck and the towing package.

There is a $4,200 window sticker difference between the 2013 TRD Sport I had and my Pro.
Again for those of you who have purchased a nice set of wheels, a nice set of capable off road tires, a nice lift (that in most cases you paid someone else to install), and all the other items that just make your truck look cool how much were those things? I understand that most people are buying these trucks used and making these modifications at a fraction of the cost and not everyone is running down to the dealer buying a brand new truck and then throwing money at it like that. I just think its pretty cool that Toyota put something like this on the market.

Unfortunately for some this truck won't do the trick. If you are really using it to tow things that often and/or require trailer brakes honestly that sucks! Because for those times you are not towing the truck is amazing! Those of you who are saying just go out and buy a full size truck. I hope you aren't one of the ones complaining about the price because you better have your big boy wallet with you when you are looking at a new Tundra or something from the big three. Especially if you want something other than a regular cab with rubber floor mats. If you want something that has off road capabilities right off the show room floor I believe Ford makes a truck called the Raptor (I'd love to see the look on your face when you see the window sticker on that truck).

The Tacoma for me is the perfect truck and that is why the Pro is my 4th Tacoma. The double cab allows me to take my family along, The bed is just big enough to haul most things, It gets respectable gas milage, I can drive it and park it in the city with ease, I can take it off road to include some technical trails, and when I go to sell it I probably won't lose much money.

Thanks. I am in the process of buying a house so just sold it to free up some money. Nothing was wrong with it at all. I went and picked up a 14 sonata se 2.0 T for now and will probably end up getting another truck later on.

Yeah, it's helps to be liquid. Good for you. Maybe after the dust settles you'll end up in a 3rd Gen.

Sold my 12' Sonata 2.0T this Summer. They dropped the HP to 230ish from 276 for MPGs. It was a sweet motor. The rest of the car not so much. I did kill a lot of A4s and surprised a few others.:D
