toyota just inspected my 07 frame, i have a good friend working there, they said my frame was beautiful, they showed me the antirust process they are going to do, they pressure wash the entire frame, the next morning a guy buffs the entire frame off, surface rust etc. then they prime the entire thing, after that dries they apply the antirust solution that apparently is so expensive they dont keep any in stock. its supposed to last the life of the vehicle, also im getting a free courtesy car!

that's some good love for a 7-8 year old frame. Gotta get my 08 in for some. I suspect my frame is good as I have always been regularly with washing under there, like it's where my balls are hangin. That said, anything to help out it always welcomed. I haffalotta miles to put on my baby yet.

I was wondering if they would be turning down people for the coating job if their frame was already in good shape but I guess not! Or at least I hope... :p

New guy here. Just bought an 07 TRD Sport. Love the truck but the rust on the frame bothered me. Thanks to this site, I found this info about the recall, or whatever it is. I took it down to the local Toyota dealer, they said they have a lot of them booked in already...I got mine booked to be done...in June 2015. Yes, next summer. They said due to the chemicals/smell, it has to be done in their body shop and that's how far away they are booked up til with these. Crazy. At least it's getting done...eventually.

I like your theory but my truck has been without cats for most of its life and the frame is absolute swiss cheese. The funny thing is where I do have high heat at the collector for the headers has very little rust

just had my inspection. Less than an hour after i dropped it off they called and said I would be getting a new frame. 3-4 weeks for parts and 3-5 days to install.

they were going to check about a rental car. didn't say anything about me having to pay anything.

will let you know how it goes. if it had passed they would have done the rust treatment same day.

Just got it. Stock ..for now
My dealer said the same thing. .... Yet it has been just over 3 weeks and still no frame. I'm not going to get angry at them because after all they are replacing it free of charge, also they said they will give me a rental car free of charge. Hope this helps. Just don't get your hopes up with them sticking to that timing they gave you lol. Just have to be patient.

    Dave.

Dealership lady on the phone was telling me that the spray liner solution they use is bought directly from a company and that they don't really stock it. So for those that aren't waiting in the line up to even get an appointment (or for your new frame to come in), you're just waiting on the paint. :p

Anyone else getting the supposed seat belt recall done as well that's coming down the pipe?

    Hey guys,

    so an update:

I called the toyota dealer here in Brantford yesterday just to see what was going on. They told me they do 1 frame at a time becuase they put two techs on it, and they just recieved their first frame earlier this week and I am 4th in a list that is currently 6 long.

I also asked about a loaner vehicle, and they said they might be able to give me a 4runner, but likely a car, and more than likely not another truck (Although I was pushing for a tundra as a "test drive" vehicle so I knew what they're like for when I start to have kids.

Lastely, I asked about everything they replace, and they told me the kit included new rear suspension, lower control arms, brake system, etc etc etc. If it's on the frame/underside like that it pretty much get's replaced.

At the end of the day they told me it could 5 - 8 weeks before I get the new frame, but they cover all costs unless something odd happens like the steering is seized before they try and take it off the truck. At the end of the day it's a $11,000 - $13,000 replacement with rental and Toyota covers it all, and I'll get the new frame just in time for winter.

Hope that helps clear up any confussion.

Mine is a 09 and no recall it seems.

I have bolt on sliders so plenty of holes and welds (for the shock reservoirs) and chopped cab mounts... Not sure they would honor the recall...

I am in the same boat as you as well as aftermarket bump stops, though mine is an 09 so nothing yet but will be keeping an eye on this for sure just in case.

Your bumpstops don't thread into the existing locations ?

I do Krown rustproofing yearly since day 1 so I'm sure it won't be rusted.

They are the Icon ones and they had to cut the old ones off and then mount the brackets for them, that part of the frame looks great though haha after the preped, cleaned, installed and re painted it.
