I have a lot of friends on Facebook trying to defend what he did with the "my dad did it to me worse than that and it made me a better man." Or "maybe I should call cps on my grandma for doing that to me huh?"

It's fucking wrong. The kid was 4. AP is a monster. A switch on his hand is a fucking dangerous weapon.

Ray Lewis was just on countdown talkin about how the NFL needs to make an example of all these guys in legal trouble.

    Definition of irony?

Yeah I'm not a Ray Lewis fan, his take was that he made a mistake and then taught other young men how not to. I get it but he's way too preachy..

People forget how much trouble Chris Carter got into when he was a rookie, I like the man he has become. So people can change but I just don't feel it with Lewis.

When the news first broke, the child was reported to be 11, then 14. When I first heard the report I thought, ok .. maybe AP needed to set the tone for a disrespectful 11 or 14 year old and got a touch carried away. It happens, slap him on the wrist and move on.

I feel like at some point every boy needs to be reminded that he is a boy and his father is a man. For me and my dad it wasn't until I was 16. We didn't fight because he would have kicked my ass... old man strength. I needed to be knocked down a peg or two. It was highly effective.

But then the news broke that the child was 4. Then, I saw the pictures. I have a 4 year old son... kids at 4 are like dogs. You can beat them and they still love you because they don't understand that a beating isn't normal.

A child that grows up homeless believes that's just the way it is. A child who gets beat thinks every child gets beat.

    That's sad.

Carter was about a half an ass hair from total self destruction. Coke, IIRC, and not a little. I mean, he made Mike Irvin look pedestrian with his daily intake. Add in truckloads of Ex and weed, PLUS a drinking problem...I'm almost surprised that he lived.

Buddy Ryan gambled that cutting him would shock him out of it. Luckily for Carter, it worked.

I don't remember who it was but a veteran took Carter under his wing. He talks about it quite often with young receivers. I like him because he is actually one of the guys that reaches out to young players who are in trouble .. usually behind the scenes.

I didn't realize how real that was until I hear Earl Thomas talk about Ronnie Lott. Earl didn't have these kinds of issues but he needed some guidance, extremely cocky and arrogant. Ronnie Lott texts him daily, they talk on the phone 3-5 times a week. Lott stepped in and taught Earl how to be the best safety in the league.

I wonder if that pisses off 49er fans.

What pissed me off the most was my "friend" who decided to use scripture to say it's ok.

What *doesn't* piss off Forty-Whiners fans?

I mean, besides domestic violence. We see they aren't too unhappy with that. Interdasting that the head coach of Ray Rice and McDonald are brothers. Makes one wonder how they grew up.

Sad part is, when I was a kid, the Niners were my second favorite team, behind my beloved Pack. I *idolized* Jerry Rice. When I played WR, he was what I wanted to be. It's depressing what they turned into.

I believe strongly that children should always feel two things about their father.

    Love and Fear.

My loved my dad and feared him. However, he NEVER laid a hand on me. He didn't have to. Fear can be caused by pain sure, but fear can also be caused by disappointment. I was afraid to disappoint my father. Terrified of it. What drove me to be successful was being afraid of disappointing him.

Everything a father does should create feelings of love or fear.

Looks like Johnny Football won his first game... Cundiff sealed the deal. Not bad considering against the saints.

Nfl.com box score says he attempted one pass, an incompletion.

    Btw, the Saints suck.

Yep, he played basically the whole game. And he did well. Good poise. No stupid mistakes. He ended up like 24/40 for 230 and a TD, but most importantly zero turnovers.

The Browns D is *nasty*. They stomped the Saints silly until the last 90 seconds of the first half.

After that it was pretty much a slugfest.

The Browns bungled an extra point in the second quarter and were down by 1 at the end. A busted coverage gave them a completion to the 19 and Cundiff borked it in. Thus, win by 2 at home.

The saints shouldn't fell bad about this game. They adjusted and were in it to the end. But the Browns...have some weapons and a stud D. There's not just hope, but *real* hope for once.

Hoyer won't wow you, but neither did any number of other QBs...looking at you, Dilfer. Play smart with a good D and you can be 'good' and win a trophy. Not saying they will, just saying it ain't far off.

It's tough to make that call until we actually get to see him play a few games.
