I have an ATO plate bumper ordered for my 2013. 3-4 weeks delivery. I will have a factory Chrome with Hitch with no damage when it arrives if you're still interested.

I actually ordered an All Pro rear bumper. Got in in last week and dropped it off at the powdercoater yesterday.

    Thanks anyway though.

Now for these plate bumpers, the energy from the car rear ending you is still going somewhere. Is your vehicle really better off with the energy being transferred into the frame, versus the stock bumper bending/crumpling and absorbing some of it? I'm interested to hear, been thinking about getting one eventually.

The reason I got one is strictly due to the fact that i got rear ended. I figured that if I could get a replacement bumper for almost the same cost as OEM, I might as well get it.

Figured it would look really good as well!!

I was rear ended on 9/11 and two different shops quoated > $1,000.00 for replacement. The young girl that hit me didn't have insurance. Fortunately her mother ageed to pay for a body armor bumper, installed. Works for me.....waiting for it to arrive.

My problem with a plate bumper is the towing capacity. Anyone know is U-Haul is OK with an aftermarket tow setup?

My insurance company paid the original estimate to me after I was rear ended earlier this year, I then ordered a plate bumper and dropped it off with the truck to the body shop. I did have to hold off having the other damage repaired until the new bumper was delivered. I had the Armored Tech Offroad bumper installed, and am very happy with how it turned out.

Sounds like a way to go. Wonder how hard it is to DIY install:confused: Thanks for the reply.

Not too difficult technically, but you might need some help to hold the bumper in place. It is a bit heavier than the stock unit. I chose to have mine powder coated, looks great and gives me a solid base coat on all sides. I held off the repairs until I had the bumper in hand, not always an option but was in my case as the damage was only to the bumper and a little to the RH bedside.

And I never liked the chome job on the stock bumper, it was pretty bad. So getting rear ended, AGAIN, largely paid for my new plate bumper. I can get some pics tomorrow if you are interested.

I weighed the ATO @ 110#. Factory bumper and hitch 92#. Lowered rear 1/4". Receiver clearance went up 1 5/8". Install was a snap. Finish is easy also if you take your time btw.
    1. Acetone wipe down wearing rubber gloves.
    2. 400 sandpaper entire bumper.
    3. Hang with a hook in one of the frame mounting holes from ceiling.
    4. Acetone wipe again.
    5. 2 coats Rustoleum Self Etching Grey Primer from Autozone. 2 cans
    6. 3-4 coats Black Rustoleum Semi-Gloss Acrylic Enamel from Autozone. 3 cans

Took about 4 hours start to finish.

Install with 2 people 2 hours including Factory removal. Air impact wrench
    helps.
