same can be said for the "lifters" that you see at a regular gym and the dudes at the top tier of lifting for the sole purpose of dehydrating oneself a week prior to spraying on orange tan and prancing around in a purple bikini

edit: normally i don't stoop to the lame retardation of arguing on the internet but it's sunday, i've been drinking all day watching football and yelling at my fantasy teams and i'm waiting for the night game to start so it seemed like the best time killing option lol

Not so much...if I saw an average lifter in the gym and all he did was talk about how he competes all the time, compete this, compete that...vs Arnold...its not same. However, run of the mill CF guys will say oh I crossfit and so does khalipha.

    Ya see?

Its a form of exercise, just slightly different.... With similar results depending on how intensely performed.

My goal is to look good. I define 'good' as having as much muscle and as little fat as possible. I want to achieve my goal as easily as possible, which is by the traditional, proven method of weight lifting. It's all about aesthetics, baby! Squats, deadlifts, pull-ups, curls, dips, etc is all I need...not all that flopping around bullshit

I've got it! You think we all pose in mankinis and we think you all do ridiculous exercises fast with shitty form....is that what we are debating?

but that's because the average lifter you see in a LA fitness can't compete in a bodybuilding competition. the vast majority of people at a regular gym that are there to "workout" to look better don't even really look like they workout.

don't get me wrong, it doesn't matter what a person does... if they're trying to better them self and improve their health and way of life and not sit their ass on the couch all day eating Doritos i'm all for it.

that's fine dude. everybody has THEIR goal and what they want to accomplish. people just need to respect that... both ways... crossfit included but how is it really so different from gym dudes being totally unaccepting of crossfit and talking shit to crossfitters being unwilling to accept any other style of exercise?

that being said... could you do kipping pull ups? just because they look the way they do and you think they're dumb and lame doesn't mean they're not hard. it's a gymnastics movement... not a strict for pull up hence the word "kipping" before the words "pull up"... they're not traditional pull ups

Very true. But just because something is hard, doesn't mean it's effective. Not to say a kipping pull-up isn't effective...don't know, don't care. I'm not a gymnast, so I've got no need for them.

for sure, i get that because they're not effective for your goals (hypertrophy and shirt off sexy sexy) but they can still serve a purpose when trying to achieve other goals

Ha! If they were legal, I'd be all over it. And, to me, big legs are just as important as arms. Nothing says, "that dude is a beast" more than big ass quads peeking out from your shorts!

I don't do gyms but I have been trying to get fit lately, started biking in the evenings about 4 weeks ago and found out one of my friends is a trainer for her friends.
I talked to the trainer and started eating right (Mostly), exercising portion control, and drinking more water and I've lost 13 pounds in 2 weeks.
I also biked 4 miles this morning to get to my grandparents house for breakfast.
