Whats up? I am Kumar and I drive a Ford Ranger.

You may be wondering why the hell an Indian kid has a pickup, but thats a story set for later.

12/04/2012 the day it was purchased for my dad, came with a new set of 31's on the front and some used coopers on the rear.


The day I took the truck

Supratrippy and Cbass invited me to go off roading for the first time, I enjoyed it, but was broke and could not afford parts. Cleghorn 6/20/13

Upper and lower balljoints were shit, so brand new 31's were camber worn, ended up buying stock 235/75/15 Goodyear Wrangler Radials. Commuting over 60 miles a day, I could not afford to run 31's again. Purchased all 4 at 75$ a tire.


Loaded up, truck has had a tonneau since i got it, however the inner bulb seal was missing, so it tore the bedsides up, and the cover now sleeps in the garage.

truck was washed once a week, and always tire slicked.


at this point, truck wouldn't hold alignment, so i decided to change shocks and balljoints.

spring broke on the rear drums, so i changed them all and put new shoes on.


BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE... BALLJOINTS But i learned quite a bit about the truck and what it composed of.


finished the balljoints, outer tie rods and shocks in about 10 hours. got it aligned and drove it to school the next day. Mustang belonged to a friend of mine, she had a heavy foot, and almost slapped me for doubting it was an auto.


Steering would click from time to time, and I had struggled with the inner tie rod, so my mechanic buddy Tim loosened them for me with a pipe wrench and i finished changing them eliminating the clicking.

truck was at a standstill for 9 months, i was literally broke and had no spare money, but soon after, i started vocational school, and switched to a full time shift at work, so bills were paid and money started rolling in.

At this point i was about the have the truck bagged and swapped with a 5.0...
but Supratrippy, Cbass, and the Mojave crew clearly changed my mind at Ocotillo Wells in April 2014.


The mod bug bit, and that shit hurt, cause in a matter of a few months, everything changed.

Fast forward to April, Ocotillo happened and I went nuts.


My mom's toyota broke down... Ranger to save the day!!!

Bead slipped off after I lost control and slammed into a a planter.


American Racing Aluminum wheels, got 4 for 250, and they were oxidized pretty bad

Went to Johnson Valley last minute, and this is my buddies truck (supratrippy)


CB Mounted, threw some tinted Hellas on, trying to flex. no pics, but i took it through the whoops sections and it stayed in tact.

the same night i came back, i went and bought a 50 inch light bar.

3 days after i came back, I got hurt at work and it stopped my progress hard. Took an 800lb cart to the hand, and was lucky enough not to break or fracture anything.

My neighbor saw me trying to mount tires with one hand, and felt bad, so he pulled a favor and had it mounted for me.

Camburg has shocks for their own kits, that fit my set up. so they were nice enough to press mounts into the shocks and sell me some.


Bilstein 5100's valved to the trucks weight.

I had a ranger in college. Couldn't kill that thing if you tried. Over 400,000 miles when the stock 5 speed tranny finally died and I gave it to my sister.

 

Lol its possible, but expensive. The truck is going to Mojave next week, with another tacoma crew, and that trip will make or break my decision to keep the truck or get a tacoma and go full long travel

As long as that irrational bs is out of your system get a tacoma. But if you're still feeling it, keep the ranger. What did you anyways. It looks like you the stripper or took a da sander to it. Either glad to see a decent ranger build.

Came back from Mojave... with nothing broken, except my shoes. I mobbed pretty hard in some places, and truck held its end. a few close calls in some dust clouds, but it held up

Just found the thread, how do you like the hella 500s?

 

The hella 500s are phenomenal. Had them HID converted and they are quite bright and have a long range on them.
