Gotta break it in at some point. And I read that there is a lot of "Y"'s in the roads up there so thats understandable. How was it?

Took Friday off and headed to Tahuya for a quick shake down suspension run with some of the NWOL group.
Super dusty and no pools to hydra lock in!
There seem to be some newer trails that weren't on the latest map.

And yes, rctoy, I let my wife drive

Have to upload a photo or two later.

We were about to pull up on Ball Ridge 4W326 and stopped to talk to these guys in a well equipped Jeep and a Suzuki. They told us not to go on the trail and that it's too tight for our wheel base and shit. The rest of the weekend we wondered if we could have made it despite what they said. They said we would get dents and that my RTT would get ripped off of my rack.

We approached Lion Gulch trail 4W332 and the road that takes you to the trail was closed due to road damage. We ended up winging it on trails that we didn't have maps for and relying on GPS. It was fun but I was hoping for something more technical.

Nothing but mining claims every where we went. Many cabins and "keep out" signs and stories of miners running people off of their claim with guns.

Sorry, I'm out on vacation so being on top of forums is falling to the wayside. I should be out in Packwood for the rest of the week, so the tin can and wire internet out there isn't going to cut it.

If had scheduled it better, I needed help inspecting steering bearings for proper lube, but I've got the shop scheduled to do it along with some other 600mi service (I did chain tensioning and engine oil change on my own).
I just need to learn more about what I should be doing, when to do it, how to do it... "you don't know what you don't know"

Always hard to trust advice. They may be poor drivers, they may be biased against your rigs... or they may tell the truth. I usually have people doubting a Taco's abilities.
The height of a RTT does make things difficult to judge.

First time 4x4 out in my buds FJ and I am copilot at the beginning of 676 (aardvark hill base) and these jeep guys say there is a mud hole that unless you have 37" tires and 6" lift, you'll get stuck. Being a noobs, he ignores it.
Got 1/2 thru and high centers in the skid plate and wheels are free spinning, and I got most of it on video. Cab was 6" full of water, mid way up the speakers. This was day 1 of 3...

Advise is up to whom you trust...

So this weekend with JDAM we noticed he has downhill assist with a factory switch and I don't, where his switch is at mine has clutch start cancel switch. His is 2012 auto mines 2014 manual, other than that they are both offroad double cab short beds.

Is mine built in or do I not have it? It was listed as part of the package I got with the truck on paper...

I have noticed a few prewired pigtails behind the blanks to the left of my steering wheel but I have no idea what they are for.

I didn't see downhill assist in mine either (2008). It shouldn't really matter the location of the switch since you can change the position of the switches.

I am sure there are more knowledgeable people then myself that would know that kind of stuff. Everybody seems to be recommending different things and it really depends on the type of bike. (cruiser/street, mode, year, etc.)

Mine is an old water cooled shaft drive v-twin. They only made this model for 1 year so it makes it difficult to get info on. (V-twin shops tell me to go to a street shop since its a Honda, street shops tell me to go to a v-twin shop). I lowered my rear, which some people disagree with on shaft drives but mechanics say they are made to work at different angles.

As of right now I just wanted to get the bike running and cleaned up a bit. The frame has a bit of rust on it and the engine could probably use a rebuild. I have been considering tearing into it this winter.

In the end I have so much want and much less time/money.

2005-2008 didn't have DAC, ATRAC or a few other things. 2009 started offering some of those features. We also have switches below the radio.

Downhill assist I would think wouldn't be so useful in a manual. Not 100% sure! but I think the way it operates is by keeping the transmission in gear so you end up getting compression braking from the motor. In a manual, it is the same thing as putting it in gear and letting the clutch pedal out.

rctoy, too bad for that truck sucks ford exhaust:stirthepot:
