Apollo 3.0 shrouds and inner LEDS

TRS website says 100mm for inners but they don't mount anywhere and don't fill the holes very well. Anyone tried this yet? Suggestions?

The instructions on the site say they snap in. An 80mm snaps in but would be useless.

 

I used a 100mm and it was small too. I just did my best to evenly space it out. The ring is super bright so you can't even tell when it's on.

Also, drill tiny holes and use metal wire to secure.

 

What did you use to secure it in place?

Ok thanks. Do you use anything else besides wire to secure it? Wouldn't the wire show?

 

I use JB weld in 3 spots holds them on very well

You just have to center them and make sure they dry that way

Thanks. It's a bit screwed paint wise right now. The first primer I used didn't stick at all "Krylon Self Etching". I sanded down the chrome and everything before hand but it had issues. Sanded all that off and got a different primer that worked. Went to paint, the can says its the right color but its not even close. Went back and got another can of paint, looks the same. I guess they changed the color tone around on it.

So now I'm trying to find something to strip the shrouds all the way down to bare plastic and re-paint, again.... I've done a few sets of retro's but for some reason this has been a huge uphill battle with this build. Nothing, and I mean nothing, has gone right. Oh well, I guess this is part of the fun right?

 

Use the quik-weld and wait till it gets kind of tacky so it doesn't run all over.

Also, the best place to have the weld is at the very edge of the vents and then into the area you can't see. If you put it over the vent you will see the blockage when the halos are on

 

I just did the Apollo 3.0 shroud. The 100 MM isn't a perfect fit however, like other people said, its super bright and you cant even tell. As for securing it in place i used a lot of JB weld STEEL STICK. Worked absolutely amazing. Its a puddy that you mold to the shape you exactly need. Works perfect and hardens like a rock. The reason i didn't use regular steel stick for the halo was that it has to stick between a huge gap and i was afraid it was gonna drip onto the shroud. However i used JB weld to secure it to the projector. That ring Its never going to fall off. Best of luck.

What did you end up using?

 

Thanks to some shitty primer I had to put oven cleaner on everything and strip them down to bare plastic. I got the JB puddy which seems to be the best way not to make a mess. I 'should' have them done tomorrow unless something else goes wrong again.

Better hope it doesn't fail/burn out. Then it's gonna be a pain to get back off. A dremel should get it off if yer careful. But yeah. I had multiple fail on me, be it regulators or the ring itself, and I finally gave up after the third time. That was the inner ones behind shroud. The outer ones I never had an issue except the regulator.. But I did have older gen rings and Idk if they've perfected em yet or not. Been trying to see if anyone's had any issues with newer ones.. Because I have a new retro I'm gonna do and I don't wanna deal with that again. Split my headlights 3 times.
But yeah, looking good man.

 

I'm saying that it wont fall off while driving/off roading. Four cuts easy cuts with the dremel and is should come off super easy. Not that bad. I'm hoping the new halo lats long also. I don't want to open my headlight again. Haha

I also want to say that the new mini Ds2 2.0's fit like total shit in the tacoma head light. I had the 1.0's and the plugged right in. With the rubber seal there isn't enough thread to screw on the cap for the Ds2 bulb.
