XM Antenna Lead Location

    I have an 09 Tacoma that is XM ready. The dealer XM module is $500 so i will try to install my MyFi. The antenna is already installed.

    I am trying to locate the XM antenna Lead. This thread was very informative.

    My question is where is the lead located? I hope it is just flappin in the breeze behind the panel.

    You have to purchace an adapter. Do a search for
    $60 SFA12M Shark Fin Antenna Adapter, SFA12M
    SFA12M. I am pretty sure that is the correct part. They are around $60.

    TY for all of your help. I ordered a cable from My Radio Store and a mounting bracket from Pro Fit International.

    I will have a nice clean fit for the MyFi in the new Tacoma. Total cost around $100. This will also allow me to move the MyFi into the garage when working on cars and other projects.:headbang:

    I will post pics and a write up after the install.

    Yeah I know that. But will I have to run a wire up to the stock antenna on the roof, or has that already been done? I keep thinking that the plug that the cable plugs into under the kick panel goes to the stock audio system. My question is would I have to run the cable to the antenna on the roof, or would I run it to the stock audio system?

    The wire is already run to the kick panel. Just connect up and run the patch cable to your receiver.

    I read the entire thread. Has anyone been able to get the XM/Sirius antennae to work for GPS purposes? Most said it wouldn't work but there seemed to be a shred of hope because no one had tried. I'd like to utilize mine and I don't have sat radio.

    Im just speculating as of now. Is it possible to just run the cable to the headunit and use the built in controls for it, or will I have to buy a receiver as well. So let me see if I can get this right...

    A cable is already ran from the stock roof antenna to the kick panel. You then have to run your own cable from the location in the kick panel to the receiver or whatever you're using. Is that right?

    Also, how would I go about using the stock headunit as my controls? And what type of receiver would you recommend?

    you can use the stock Hu but to get better sound out of your system, i would upgrade teh HU to a better one

    Well I don't necessarily want to go messing around with that stuff. I'm not that experienced at pulling stuff out and what not. Rather pay to have the Geek Squad do it for me.

    There is a link in my signature of what I did. I originally had a portable XM radio. I decided to replace the entire head unit with a new one. I now have the aftermarket unit and the steering wheel controls it just like the factory. I have XM and iPod connectors also. I would not let Geek Squad touch my vehicle. I have heard horror stories with them, plus I am OCD on radio installs. Crutchfield will send you everything including step by step instructions. If you have a problem, you can give them I call and they are very helpful. There is a Crutchfield Coupon code also on page.
