I just bought a new double cab 6 cylinder Tacoma.
I am only getting 15 mpg. approx 1500 miles on speedo

I have owned 2 fj cruisers and a 6 cylinder double cab in the past the fj cruisers were 08 and 11, the other tacoma was a 2013 couble cab 6 cyl
all did 20 mpg right out of the box...

today as i was cruising along, i get this great smell of rotten eggs or sulpher in the cab....wonder if the catalytic converter or something in the air filter is screwed up
    tnks

I'm not trying to be rude here, but you already have a post about gas mileage.

Patience my friend. Someone will be sure to help you if they can.

How is your E-Brake? Sometimes those are not properly adjusted from the factory. Both times my dad bought trucks new (GMC and Toy Tundra) they weren't and that would cause additional friction bearing down the motor and maybe even the smell you are getting.

Some Tacomas in the past got their cat converters replaced because of a rotten egg smell, my 2006 was one of them.

Gas mileage stinks, yep, mine too. I haven't been excited about it since I'm only at 1500 miles. My 2006 got 22 on the highway and 17 around town from the day I bought it until the day I traded it with 175,000 miles. I'll be patient and see if it improves. So far I get about 19 on the highway and about 16 in town, my dad's new Chevy 1500 does at least that good. I had a 2013 for a year, it was about the same as my 2014 and I had about 7500 miles on it when I got my new one.

It took my '13 almost 10k miles to finally get the mileage I expected. Just wait and don't worry so much.

Slam the biggest tires on it and you'll see your mpg going down even further. Might as well get a Tundrabor F150 with the worse Taco mileage

Pick up a cheap scan reader online or at an auto parts store. Then review all of the parameters. If anything looks unusual, take it back to the dealer.

    Is the unit stock?

How are you calculating your mpg?

+1, I was probably around 17 on hwy durung break in. It eventually worked up to 21. I never even checked mileage until Discount tire accidently but a set of load range E MTRs on my 2009. After reading about tires on this site I figured I would get 20. I ran those tires for a month and averaged 21.7. When they put Duratracs on I saw no diff.

I get 15mpg around town with my 2013. How do you figure you are getting bad mileage?
