Lately my engine has been feeling a bit sluggish 45-65. It feels like something is bogging it down. When I turn it off after about 20mins of driving 65 in 6th gear it smells like something is too hot but the engine temp gauge reads normal. I am going to take off my secondary air filter later today to see if it helps. Anbody have any ideas on what it could be?

How would I go about checking these things? I am just now getting in to doing the work on my truck myself. I am tired of paying other to do it.

Also, Lift the rear of the truck with the tranny in neutral, no brakes, and turn the wheels. See if they turn freely.

Nope everything appears normal from the cab. The heat smell is coming from the engine compartment.

You can drive the truck at night. When you reach normally operating temperatures find a dark place to pull over and look under the truck. If it is glowing, the CAT is clogged/bad. They don't always through a code.
