I started in the reserves and switched to the Guard (Army). Been in 15+ years now. Joined out of boredom in college and it's been good to me.

 

The biggest thing keeping me out of the military is moving around. I've heard different things about the guard. Can you stay where they are or will they relocate you? I haven't gotten a straight answer

 

Guard. Hometown hero. They DO deploymore the active duty. And serve in other national problems

 

I don't mind being deployed at all it's just moving away. That's what kept me from being a nuke

 

Oh yeah. Nothing to be deployed to a carrier with 4000 mates. Wouldn't wanna be in a combat zone right

 

I'd rather not be In a combat zone but it is what it is. I'll serve in it like everyone else if I get deployed there. I wouldn't accidentally fall down a flight of stairs or something to get a medical leave like some of those guys in the navy I hear about from ambers dad

 

You know signing bonus for nukes are like 100,000 and the have re-up bonuses are like 90,000 . So you could do 4 years(May have to do 6 as nuke) and re-up after and be rolling in the money. But those dudes are special.

 

Whats $$$ over the feeling of combat? The rush. The stress. The feeling of no hope? Go Army 11B or 19D

 

I know some one straight out of HS straight into Nuke school. He loves it, but then again military is family thing. But says its alot of school work to be a Nuke.

 

Saw a couple tacomas on the lot last year that had spacer lifts, chrome wheels and chrome tube steps. Hideous.

Bottom line don't join the military. For both of your benefits.

 

More people need to read what they wrote before they post. The world would be a little more boring though..
