Looks like Flagstaff PD has decided to do some fishing and let the fake mustache man do their job of patrolling... haha. Now obviously the reason that crime stays down is because the police have a presence in the area.. but does this really count? Thoughts?

That's awesome! I guess that has a bigger impact than a radar trailer or neighborhood watch signs. If people see a marked unit, they tend to slow down, come to complete stops, etc. I would guess that "dummy" was used more for traffic control than anything else. What a huge target for vandalism tho!!!

Yeah definitely a target for vandalism... I already wanted to steal the man to put in my apartment haha.

And yes RadTaco, I guess they are popping up all over flagstaff and have been spotted by several people as fakes..

Don't know if they still do, but when I lived down in Key West the cops did that a lot.

The only thing I fear is if they would call it 'kidnapping' haha.. Am I technically "stealing" someone being employed to sit there by the city?? Thats a joke, because he isnt real.. or is he?

Oh if you got caught you'd be in a lot of trouble that's for damn sure.

But if you didn't get caught you'd be the only guy rocking a legit police dummy in his house.

    Totally worth the risk!

Really?? Unfortunately, wearing it is only going to get him in more trouble for impersonating an officer. Did they ever find who did it?

    This x100

    what a bunch of idiots..

Blocking a corner intersection, past the line, and on the sidewalk.. do as we say not as we do.

You should pull a citizens arrest on the dummy because I think he's drunk.

HAHAHA Break the window and pull him out of it, call 911 and say I have made a citizens arrest on a illegally parked car. Ill play out the whole thing as if I am terrified for my life that he was watching my house and when questioned he wouldnt respond. I may be able to get away with it.

The Punta Gorda, FL police department does that all the time, but they don't even bother to put a blow-up doll in, they just park it but I still shit my pant and double checked the speedo...

Fairfax County PD around here have been placing un-occupied cruisers on the side of the road or medians in high traffic areas. They leave them there for a week or two at a time, and yet the people who drive the road everyday still slam on their brakes whenever they see them.

I guess the tactic works since the majority of drivers are actually retarded.

This is true. I try not to speed in the first place. I dont have a budget for tickets. I feel like if the flow of traffic in high traffic areas is above the speed limit, it is more dangerous to put a cop car there. I feel like there are more people getting rear ended. Of course that leads to the conclusion they should be paying attention in the first place.

Back in Georgia they used to cut the middle out of the cop cars and weld the two sides back together and then place them near roadways. They were super skinny haha and easier to move I guess.
