I'm not sure. I believe it's totally stock. I will have to look. It runs across the engine compartment, correct?

I always do a break test. If the truck dips hard when you break, you need new shocks.

If it is bouncy, you need new shocks.

Also check to see if there is oil leaking around or by the shocks. A lot of times when they go the leak oil everywhere.

    Good luck!

Okay so where is the sway bar supposed to be? Because I looked and I couldn't see one.

After noticing the truck feeling like it was on ice skates while going over speed bumps, I peeked and saw the LBJs were on their way out. I replaced them and the front feels much better but the rear still has a tendency to feel loose. Not sure if it's just the leaf springs or if something else is wrong.
    Good luck.

If your swaybar is there it will look something like this

That's the driver side LCA, the silver piece circled in blue connects the LCA to the actual sway bar which is the black tube in the pic

Thank you, this picture helped a lot :) I crawled under my truck and this is what I came up with, so as far as I can see, yes, I do have a sway bar! New shocks for me I guess!

If I recall correctly, the second gen swaybar connects to the spindle assembly.

That pic may be a 1st gen.

what's it matter what vehicles in the pic, it served its purpose as a reference.

to the OP, are your tires properly aired up? Low tires can get squishy and make for a squirrelly handling rig. I'd check everything out, I.e. steering components etc., before just throwing money at it. Unless your just lookin for a reason to spend some money on it then by all means spend away.

is the truck lifted? if it is, then the roll center is raised. that being the case, the truck will roll on corners more than if it were not lifted.

Well it kinda matters a hell of alot seeing how 1st gen swaybars & 2nd gen sway bars are opposite of one another...could be a little confusing if using for reference
