Hello all, this is another thread about tube steps, i know maybe this is covered, but i guess everyone of us wants feedback specially for their trucks.....
the thing is I've been wanting to put some tube steps on my Tacoma, originally i was gonna get the OEM silver ones, i really like the looks since they are powder coated silver and my Tacoma is black sand, but those don't come cheap at all (about $620 installed in dealership)....
Chrome ones I'm no too sure, since nothing is chromed in my truck, and i don't know how that ll look, stainless the same, its very shinny, and blacks can be the other option.....
as for sliders don't really have use for them, since i don't plan any serious off-roading, just dirt roads and stuff....

i really want to get them installed ASAP, but still can't figure it out....any suggestions?

I love my OEM running boards. I think they look cleaner than the tube steps.

And before anyone asks...yes, it helps to make sure I don't get mud on my dress.

Not sure which package you have on the truck but my Black Sand Pearl has a chrome rear bumper, chrome grill surround, and chrome badging so it's certainly not going to clash to have shiny steps on the truck. Personally, I like lots of black so I went with black powdercoat on mine.

As for which ones to buy, I can't imagine why anyone would want to spend $600 for OEM steps when there are tons of good aftermarket steps available at half the price. The biggest decision for me (short of which color) was did I want ones that turned and went up under the truck or the ones that simply kick in a little at the ends. I also paid attention to how they mount because I don't like the look of lots of brackets.

In my opinion you're not going to go wrong with Westins, GoRhino, or any of the other major manufacturers. And for what it's worth I would never pay to have someone install my bars. If you can work a ratchet you can handle the install yourself. Hope that helps some.

Demello Rock Crusher sliders are flat and could be used as a step rail. And they will prevent door dings. Just a thought.

Could you not buy the silver ones and have them powder coated on your own?

Westin's Platinum Series are very well made. I put a set of black ones on mine. The kit was well thought out for a direct bolt-on install that was easy to do. Honestly, I was very impressed with their kit and the things look awesome.

Ed, if you aren't so much worried about paint protection, I would go with the N-Fab Nerf Steps. Those are by far the best looking step bars. I'm saving up some cash for them to custom build me a set for my access cab with only one step for the front.
