Maybe raise once you prove your skills. Nobody likes rejected welds.

I remember when I got my CAD certification. I thought I was going to be making 50-60k a year right off the start. Turns out the best I got was 28k a year. But six months after I proved myself I got bumped up to 35k. Then I averaged 5K/year raises each year. I finally got to a good spot with working lots of overtime. But it did not come to me instantly
