I would say, it's pretty on topic still.

You sir, have a point. Though, old Austin was still Texas. A goofy lovechild of Texas, but still Texas. This current California-Austin hipsterfest mashup...this is not Texas.

Interesting thread. Saw the hard left turn halfway through the first post...

I've had no problems with my Tamale at all. Mine was made in Tex-Mex

Maybe if the Tacoma wasn't made in Mexico it could actually be driven in 4WD. The only real Toyota is a Japanese built one, anything else is essentially subcontracted out. I love my Toyota City, Aichi, Japan made Toyota.

I drive my Mexico built Tacoma in 4WD all the time. Through some realy harsh crap at that. Never broken on me once.

First I've heard about not being able to drive in 4WD. I also drive in 4WD without any problem.

I do wonder if my Taco Lean is because it may be assembled in Mexico. I would imagine the tamales are stored on the driver side! :taco:

Can you drive your Tacoma on dry pavement or around town in 4WD? No. But a 4Runner drives buttery smooth with 4 wheel drive engaged. That's what I'm talking about.

Ive owned a V6 2nd Gen and driven 10+ others, can't be driven in 4WD.

Why is anyone drying in 4WD around town on dry pavement?! Jesus.

My 4WD works awesome in 4 wheel driving situations.

A V6 4runner has shiftable 4WD and there's no binding and it drives the same as in 2WD. A Tacoma V6 has shiftable 4 wheel drive and it feels like shit. I defended my 06 DCSB 4X4 and 05 DC Tundra the same way. Don't get upset with me, I'm just the messenger.

Ahh, I'm picking up what you're puttin' down.

    This right here

I mean who really wants to drive in 4WD on the pavement anyways? If it's raining, I could understand that, but not dry pavement!

Do a google search of cars/trucks made in mexico. You'll feel real silly about your comment after 5 seconds of said searching.

    1) This has nothing to do with the truck being made in Mexico. It's how a part-time 4x4 system works.

    2) The Tacoma has a part-time 4WD system. The front and rear axles turn at the same speed which is optimal in an offroad or slippery situation. Not for dry pavement. This is benefitial for the same reasons diff lockers and A-trac is.

I assume the 4Runner, which I'm not nearly as familiar, has a center differential full time 4wd setup with the multiple modes (select terrain dial?).

Stop trying to drive on dry pavement in 4WD. It's a waste. I don't get it.

Hecho en Mexico here.. only thing I can tell is that the cab vs the other body panels seem to be slightly off in their white shade.

The only people I'm racist against are the people driving their trucks in 4WD on dry pavement and complaining about it. :D
