Pretty sure the comments to you weren't about safe handling of firearms, at least mine weren't. They were more geared toward you being locked, loaded and ready to fire a shot off at someone trying to steal a lawn ornament and the collossal shit storm that would have brought your way if you actually hit or killed them. Granted, they shouldn't have been in your yard trying to steal anything, but no way I'm going to take a shot at someone over that. To each their own but I wouldn't want to test that part of the justice system.

To be fair, I thought Alex's comment read as if he was ready to shoot someone who came through the door, not someone out on his lawn.
I mean, I live in a state with a different set of rules governing firearms possession, but don't see having a gun loaded and ready in case somebody kicks down your door as ridiculous. I don't have any kids running around the house, so my bedstand gun is always loaded and easily accessible if I'm home. If I'd caught some assholes running around my yard after dark I'd damn sure have that sucker close for the rest of the evening.

And I live out in the boonies, in an area with a crime rate so absurdly low that we don't even have a police force.

We can get xd's. Just have to buy it out of state and transfer it through a properly licensed person, usually a firearms dealer.

I wouldn't think about shooting someone in the yard, but I was more concerned about them coming into the house.

This is it exactly. At least someone gets it.

    I do love Rottweilers!

Picked up 50 more rounds of 00 buck shot. I wanna go to the range when I get a day off

From what I understand Mass complaint just means that it can't be sold here, doesn't mean you can't legally own a non-mass compliant model. I think it's pretty common for a FFL to facilitate the transfer. No reason for them not to, you're paying them and the firearm in question is completely legal to possess.

I would have bought a Kahr 380 instead of my SW if I could have gotten it in Mass compliant.
