replaced my factor 55 prolink (sold to Drainbung) with a viking offroad safety thimble.

the new unit replaces the thimble on the winch line itself basically eliminating a link in the chain that can potentially fail.

the only PITA part is that you have to completely remove the winch line, un thread and re splice the new thimble onto the line. It was not very hard there are a few videos on youtube. I would recommend buying the splice kit from viking as well it made it easier.

pulling 100ft of line through itself.

comparison of what the thimble replaces.

installed and wound under tension, i used my girlfriends honda as an anchor to spool the winch line under tension, i wasnt aware that it needed to be wound under tension.

Done a few things since the last update lets see if I can remember them all.

I installled a rat products gas tank skid! good product at a reasonable price! Installation was very simple just drill a few holes.

next up was something I have been working on for a while, my dad picked up this ammo box for me at a garage sale for $10 some idiot had spray painted it and it needed some love, so after some sandblasting and a little bit of fabrication I got myself a sweet Rocket Container toolbox.

    and then my rear bumper!!
I got a relentless DIY rear and my friend added some custom side protection and well as some minor details like lowering the towers under the tail lights.

Thanks! I agree about the mud flaps but I will get a ticket so quick once it starts to rain! Cops are sticklers in CA about mudflaps with oversized tires.

    Thanks for the motivation Fern

Love the HC bumper. First HC bumper I actually like. Ammo box setup looks sweet too.

That Rocket box is identical to the ones I have. I use a couple of them. Love 'em. Good job cleaning it up.

    Thanks guys!

It rules! Mine says "2.25" rocket container mk12 mod1 1945" with an anchor too I'll try and get a pic tomorrow, I left that portion bare and cleared over it so it would be easier to read. I was able to chop up two of the latches and turn them into hinges, the lid doesn't come off anymore but oh well!

Sweet. I like how you did those hinges. I might have to consider something like that.
