I used a grinder with the 4.5" wheel as well. Definitely, just needed someone without the shakes to be doing it. lol. Glad I cut mine a little low so that I have room to straighten it out and not have a huge gap.

 

You'll smoke through those tiny cut off wheels and with something like a straight cut like that the more you can take off in one swipe the better.

Received my Superbumps from Wheelers Off-road today! Installed them as well.

Took about 15 minutes, most of which was spent cutting the included allen wrench to a useable size. Took about 1.5" off of it with the cut off wheel. Used channel locks to remove the old bumpstops, they came off rather easy. Just crank the wheel to one side and crawl under and remove and replace then crank the wheel the other way and repeat.

Nice, cutting the wrench is a must! Combined with a ratcheting box wrench its even easier.

 

Would have worked better with the wrench, but I would have had to lift the truck. I was being lazy. Even with the cut allen wrench I could one turn it half a turn until the last few threads.

I started my CMC finally, almost finished my drivers side cuts. Have the BAMF plates to weld in when I am done. Did it all without lifting the truck or removing a wheel and tire. Just cranked the wheel all the way to each side.

Also I cut in to my pinch welds and learned I don't have the right size hammer to bend those over yet. Gonna go get a big fucking hammer tomorrow.

 

Today I took the girlfriend out to Pancake Rock.

 

Amazing looking ride. I wish I had the mechanical know-how to do all of that to mine. My plan is to start with sliders this year and then start with suspension and tires next year. One thing I am worried about is ruining highway ride quality by replacing the stock suspension system/components. Any thoughts on that based on your experience so far?

 

Trucks looking great. I suggest cutting as much out of the cab mount as possible - chop the ear off. You'll be rolling 35s soon enough.

Thanks! Mechanics really aren't hard, just basically learning/ having access to the right tools. My first career choice was being a mechanic, pay didn't support me having my own cars to work on, so I became confused and joined the Navy.

So ride.... Honestly its a hard one to answer, but my take on it is if you could get the same ride on a lifted truck as a stock one, factory trucks would come lifted. But they don't..... So yeah, I decided the ride was worth the capabilities I gained. If you want smooth ride you either go with a drop bracket lift or use some spacers or get a leveling kit. Even then you will still lose comfort.

My truck is still my daily driver to and from work. Ride is pretty stiff, but it smooths out if I have my kids, dog, and girlfriend with me( Some sort of load out). On the trail though, it does everything I ask of it plus some.

 

Thanks bud, I have a lot of chopping to do, including my fenders. I almost ripped the flares off and defiantly did some damage to the bottom of my fenders. Also going to be buying some spacers for my super bumps, they didn't limit my up travel enough.

 

They compress like crazy. My fenders front and rear had kinks from smashing them

 

Wheelers has spacers, or you can do what I did. Stack 3 fender washers, duct tape them together and install.

 

I like your thinking.... Mine will lack duct tape but .50 cent washers instead of $50 plastic
