I'd rather have the locking read diff on the O/R than the scoop on the sport if I were only driving a 4x2. You can buy and install a Sport hood easier and for less money than you can add a locker.

Sarge, That's a good find, but for the vin. The ad says 4L, but the vin says 4 cyl. It also doesn't have bluetooth and probably not the camera. The tailgait lack of badges means something too.

You're right, I 'm coming around... I soured on car dealers but I can't spend another four months on the internet looking.

Hood scoop? Not my thing at all. I just want a good ride on pavement, that's all. I'll never get on roads as rough as the Detroit Freeway (they haven't fixed it yet have they?) And I don't want my wife to have to hang on to the hook as we go round a windy road, so the Off Road is out of the question.

I've always settled on color in the past until now, and I've always looked longingly at the Fire Chief's truck, so Barcelona it is. Everyone says I'll get tons of tickets, but actually, I was blown away when the officer that pulled me over for violating his right of way saw my VA card in my wallet as I pulled out my license, thanked me for my service and sent me on my way! Best thank you I ever had!

I'll pass it along now and thank you for yours.

why the heck would a 4x2 have a rear locker? that makes no since, but neither does having a truck without 4x4. to each his own though, to each his own.

I didn't run the VIN, just looked at the ad. I'd at least call them and ask.

But if you're sour on dealerships, I can understand that. I've worked in the best and I've worked in the worst.

You have the largest Toyota dealership in the US, Longo Toyota. But if you want a great experience, I'll tell you to talk to the guys in Bellevue, Wa. PM me and I'll tell you who exactly to call for a great experience. I just moved from there and will not be selling cars here in New Orleans. I know it is a haul to go there, but no B.S. will happen during the sales process. But at least you can order your Tacoma exactly how you want it. The only up hill part will be actually getting a PreRunner, as not many people in Washington actually buy 4x2's in that area. But with enough lead time and a deposit, it is possible to get you one. I almost leased one, but I could not find one like I wanted in the short amount of time I had before I left. Plus the payment wasn't that much less than what I have.

Better traction. That is why you want a locker in any car or truck.

Not everyone needs 4wd in a truck.

Honestly, the ride between the Sport and O/R are the same. The main difference is between the SR5/LTD and TRD's.

unless you put an aftermarket locker in you aren't getting a stock locker on a tacoma without buying the 4x4 TRD OR. OR springs are stiffer then the Sport springs, so I'll respectfully disagree with you on them riding the same. it may not be much of a difference. threads about it on here if you search.

Sarge, Unless the trucks I drove were not what they were badged as, the Sport cornered flat, and the OR cornered like my cat's milk bowl. This comparison, of course, was on pavement where I intend the rubber to live out it's natural life.

Not true. I've been selling Toyota's for years. I know how they are equipped with the locking rear diff. from the factory. If you get an Off Road package, it comes the same on both 4x4 and 4x2.

The only physical difference is the size of the wheels 16/17. Such a slight difference, it is noticeable by so few people. Same Bilstein shocks. You also get the engine skid plate on both.

There is a huge difference in the TX Pro, which a lot of people drive not knowing what they are sitting in. Heck, a lot of salesmen don't even know there is a difference between the OR and the TX Pro. But drive that one on the road and you'll definitely see the differences.

But the SR/SR5 and Limited all have the same simple/soft suspension.

There is a difference in the bed/wb lengths in how they handle though.

This is basic info found out online. Offroad has a locker regardless of 4x4 or 4x2.
