    That is good to hear. Honestly, it was your good experience with Alcan that was the deciding factor for me to go this route. I found Bill Ford and Owen very good to deal with.

    I have had 700 lb leafs before and on my truck the ride and flex were horrible. Not saying they wouldn't be a good choice for you, but I sure wasn't happy with them and got them off of there as soon as I could.

    If you are carrying that much weight all the time, springs that stiff might be OK. :notsure:

    The choice for me to go 500 lbs was a compromise no doubt. And was partially based on my experience with their 200 lbs springs.

    Yea I always go for fully loaded since usually when I use the rig it's fully loaded or at least loaded up good

    Yeah, its always gonna be a compromise. You've got great flex and certainly don't want to give that up. I think that is the core dilemma with new leaf packs.

    And, initially I am going to put the stock shackles back on.

    I am a little concerned about being too high in back, at least in the beginning. Lets see what I end up with going that route. If it has bro-lean when fully loaded (which I doubt it will), I can then use the extended shackles to get back up there.

    id leave the extended ones on to keep the extra travel..but thats me.

    Im pretty certain you'll have rake with it unloaded but who cares. Not like you drive it a lot unloaded anyways.

    The new leafs are going to add lift. Maybe as much as a couple of inches over where its at now. I hear what you are saying tho. We'll see where everything settles out at before using the extended shackles.

    It is an easy fix if I need to swap them on there.

    well ya they will be a bit high at first. Gonna take a fully loaded trip of flexing to break em in really.

    Im just saying might as well leave them on. Use as much shock travel as possible.

    I know, I just take a little more conservative approach than you. :p

    Remember, I have access to a forklift so I will be able to see exactly where the shocks are after the swap.

    Also dont forget you'll be adding 200lbs off the ass of it alone..so its gonna change quiet a bit from how you will see it the first time. Id leave the shackles on. I think you'll need them haha


    Be interesting to see how the shocks look on the forklift. They looked great on Shoshone

    With the current setup they are very close under full compression, less than an inch without the little rubber ring. On the long end, there may be a couple of inches to spare right now. Another reason I want to try first with the stock shackle. If I am 2" higher, I don't want to over extend the shock. I think it may be close. Really depends on the amount of flex the new leafs will have.

    You have lots of down travel left. Up is a bit short but with the current shackles works perfect. With a shorter shackled you'll have to get new bumps for sure.

    My guess the reason the radio failed is that you damaged it by continuing to try to broadcast after the mount broke....while it lay ungrounded in the bed of the truck.
