Check Engine Light Came On

    I just had my check engine light come on as I was on the way to school today, the engine is running fine and didn't seem to act differently, what could it be. My mom called the service dept. after I left and they said it was probably an emissions problem. What say you guys?

    has it been 5000 miles since the last oil change? on the 05+ it comes on every 5000 miles to remind you to change your oil. what year is your truck?

    No, that's the Maint Required light. Check Engine means there's an issue with some sensor, could be anything from an O2 sensor out, knock detect, ect. Get the CEL code (autozone will do it for free) and go from there...

    Open the hood, check engine. If it's still there, you're golden.






    Get those codes read at Autozone as stated above.

    x2 on all the advice. go to auto zone. they run the codes for free and take it from there. could be and probably is something small.

    Alright thanks guys! I'll head up to Autozone after I get back from the dr. office today. :/ Out of school sick, with something i don't know what though oh well I'll let you guys know what I found out supposedly I have to take it up to the Service Center at around 4 though.

    Also if I'm going to have to take it up there for them to look at could I see if they would do the TSB for the Rear leafs? Or is it too late for that.

    Color matched door handles, Weathertech floor liners, bed mat, Durafit seat covers, tailgate clamp, 2016 TRD Sport 17" wheels with Yokohama Geolander AT tires , Toyota exhaust tip, Toyota/Yakima bike rail mount, Toyota wheel locks, Toyota hitch cover, Redline hood struts, unifilter on air pump.
    Make sure your gas cap is on correctly. It's a very common CEL problem on vehicles with OBDII (1996 and newer).
