I always said my '99 was going to be with me forever. Sadly, the frame rust took her from me. The '90 I have now, I bought just over a year ago and now it has 262k on it. Planning on keeping it till it doesn't go anymore. I keep telling my wife that it's going to be our one year old's first vehicle when she turns 17. I don't have to tell anyone here how well that went over.

I have the same ideal scenario. My son turned two yesterday and loves "Dada's truck." Hopefully, another fourteen years from now it will be his. I doubt he will love it by then, though haha. I will be 40 then, and the truck will have...399,000 miles. Yikes, probably not feasible. Maybe he will get his Dad's old 2018 Tacoma or something then, who knows.

If/when the frame gets replaced...this POS is gone.

Idk, the new F-150 looks pretty good. We'll see. Here's one for you, 1st year model, 2002 Avalanche, 67k, just had to replace the stock radio. Runs like a dream.

I plan on keeping my '13 for a good while, hopefully 10+ years. Although I said that about my '07 and ended up trading it in for the '13 after 3 years.

We'll see. I know multiple people with 2004 and 2009 models with well over 100,000 hard miles with no more problems than normal. The new model is coming out late in the year specifically because Ford has stated they are taking the time and effort to ensure the "normal" early production issues are minimized. Plus, the truck has already been in secret testing for about 3 years to figure out issues ahead of time. And, the drivetrain I'm getting is carried over and not new (5.0).

Some risk, yes. But everything I've seen and read indicates much of that risk has been mitigated. Ford has much more riding on the F150 than Toyota does on the Tacoma. This truck in particular is being met with a lot of interest and scrutiny, so I think they're taking the steps to get as smooth a launch as possible.

I have a 2005 Tacoma with 191K on it. Nothing major done in the way of repairs since I've had it, just routine maintenance. Original serpentine belt that I check regularly and still looks good. Replaced the original plugs yesterday which was about a two hour job and looking at the old plugs, needed to be done. Would like to put 300K on it and at this point in time see no reason I won't be able to.

Funny, actually I had planed to keep my 2000 white, SR5 Pre-Runner till I croaked. Then about 6 months ago I stumbled on a '09 low mileage Bright White /AC, TRD locally for a good price. Bought it the next day, sold the other with a sign setting in my driveway in five days cash. Now I plan on keeping this one........Unless Tacoma decides to build a high torque diesel TRD.

Too much money into mine to get rid of it now! Unless I get bored with it...so far so good. I've made it three years/38k.

    none yet
I didn't just put the extra add ons just to get rid of it in a couple of years. I plan to keep it until Toyota or any domestic auto makers come up with a reliable and beefier mid-size truck with better MPG. If that's even a realistic goal for anyone of them.

I was on a serious mission to get me a Jeep Wrangler before buying this Taco but the Jeep's MPG killed the deal.

If your getting the 5.0 Coyote, do some homework. My 2011, XLT burned about 1 qt of oil every 1K miles. Of course the dealer said this was normal but myself and many others felt differently. I can't make this up, look up info on 5.0L Coyote oil consumption, and engine knock. It effects both Mustangs and F-150's.

Not going to lie, I LOVED THE COYOTE 5.0L, it is a kick ass engine, gobs of power, sounds amazing, it revs high for a truck, the mpgs are respectable (My 2wd, Scab ,XLT got 21-22 easily on the highway) But the oil burning, failing electric power steering (That is an $1200 repair outside of warranty) Man I hope they have ditched the stupid electric power steering on the new model.

Anyway, if your getting the 5.0L, there is supposedly an oil-catch can thing, that you install in one of the valve cover vacuum lines. Supposed to reduce the oil burning.

I would love a truly compact pickup.

I guess my theory might be totally wrong, but I would bet if Toyota essentially just "rebuilt" the early 90's truck but with the currently required equipment (airbags, TPMS, etc) and kept the price sub-$15,000 new for a 4WD (base 4WD in the early 90's was sub-$9,999) they'd sell the ever loving shit out of those things.

That said, I plan on keeping my truck long term; but generally speaking I've never owned a car more than 4 years, so I guess we'll see.

I'd like to keep my truck for 20 years but I seem to have recurring alignment issues 2 alignments at 30,000 miles. If this settles down or if I can make some good changes to fix the problem I'll keep it

I'll keep mine as long as it's running good and the rust is minimal. After 15+ years or 200k miles, then I'll probably keep it for life either way. Any major issues before that point, then I won't hesitate to cash in on our high resale value.

i am keeping it. not so much because i love it so much..but because i HATE car payments THAT much.
