Will the new one have more cupholders? I don't think the 13 in my DC are enough.

I hope that's a Hilux and not a Tacoma. The high "belt line" on the side windows looks stupid. It looks stupid on pretty much everything too.

If Toyota screws things up too bad, I'll be going for a CUV/car and a trailer. I only need the bed every once in a while. Either that or rent a big truck from U-haul.

Agreed. Heck you can't even drive with the window down and your arm resting on the door on many vehicles with high belt lines anymore. Is it just styling or does side airbag placement enter into it?

I'd like it to be a significant redesign - I've got a first gen, I love the first and second gen.. but I like new things and new engineering. If it is pretty much the same as the second gen I will be disappointed.

I really hope Toyota actually changes things up. I mean the truck exterior is fine. It is the Interior and drive train that need updating. if they had put the 4Runner dual VVT-I 1GR-FE in back in 2010 with a 6 speed auto it would have been awesome. But then again it is time for Toyota to trickle down some 4Runner DNA to the Tacoma. If they put the KDSS, Crawl Control, and multi terrain select into the TRD off road package... That would be the most badass Tacoma yet! Also a fully boxed frame would be nice to eliminate the bed bounce. I love the Tacoma, but after driving the 4Runner it makes the Tacoma feel sloppy.

My thoughts exactly! Only reason I didn't get the 4Runner is because of the cost of a brand new 4Runner compared to a brand new Tacoma.

well for one, I have to agree. I have a 14 4Runner and the warden is waiting on the next gen to come out on the Tacoma's.

I don't like the bounce, how light it is, touchy brakes, and a few other things on the Tacoma compared to the T4R, but then again its her truck and she's happy.

From what I've seen its due to issues with side impact ratings...specifically the support beams.

I hate that, too. It's like sitting in a coffin.

I suspect it has something to do with pedestrian safety regulations (?) which require dead space under the hood and forces higher cowl lines and thus higher belt lines.

And ultra fat A-pillars to that and the visibility blows. So much for "increased safety". As usual law of unintended consequences applies.

It is probably quiet here as there is no new useful information, so anything after that is merely fluff and circular discussion.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
more than likely the truck was purchased about a year ago and it's a standard marketing/assessment survey.

I got the same email and I bought about 14 months ago. I just delete everything from Toyota unless it says they're giving me a truck, ten thousand dollars, or I have a recall.
