threaten them.. it might be illegal. but its always fun acting like a complete maniac on the telephone saying your crazy screaming and yelling in their ear through the phone. If you dont quit calling im going to blow your fucking company up. the authorities might be at your house later that evening, but hey if your in jail they cant call you... lol

Check freecreditreport.com or someplace to make sure they are just calling you and not docking your credit score. If they are putting bad marks on your credit score for things you are not responsible for then it could screw you in the future and it can be another angle you can fight them from.

If you're not the person they're trying to contact (or not involved), how is it legal for them to avoid the DO NOT CALL list?

A collection agency is not a telemarketer, do not call list is only for telemarketing companies.
"The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home."

Ask them what company they represent and send a cease and desist order via certified mail. After receiving the order I beleive they must pursue other means of collecting the debt (court orders, or other legal means). Since it is not your debt and a letter would not be addressed to you, it should stop the calls and communication.

    1. Do a CREDIT check on yourself, PRONTO.
    2. Could this be "your" debt due to a shady family member (identity fraud) and this is why YOU are getting the calls.
    3. Call your family member and ask why the F$#@K your cell # is on these records and what is he/she going to do about it.
    4. Did you co-sign any loan, CC or deby with this person?
    5. Give the callers your family members number.

Turn the ringer off & let them call or answer it and fuck with them until they stop calling. Who answers the phone when it rings nowadays anyway?

Im having the same problem with one of my family members that is only related my law and doesn't even live near me. but the company keeps calling every day. they will even call 3 or 4 times in a row, they hang up right before the answering machine and call back again.

ugh family sucks!! If the reason you can't change your number is because you use it for work, I'd recommend you change the number, print new business cards, change the decal on the insurance building window and live happily ever after.lol
That's what I'd do if I seriously wanted to get rid of the calls.

well the cost to change my phone number is $36, then costs of new business cards and stationary... The cost for the full-use iBlacklist application for the iPhone is only $12. I'm currently using the free trail which only lets you block 2 numbers, but it seems to be working so far..

its not harrasment if the person actually owes the money. but in this case it sounds like harrasment.

here's my idea. it prolly wont work but it should be fun. as soon as you realize its one of these calls, start making sex noises (this will work better if you have a willing female around who can do good sex noises). between gasps of air, ask if this conversation is being recorded. when htey say "yes" say "good, cause i wanna get this shit on tape!" and then you and your woman both proceed to make mind shattering orgasm sounds. after a good minute of "recovery" sounds ask the guy if "he got that" and if he can send you a copy. when they say no then just tell him he's "been no help at all" and hang up. like i said, it wont work but it would be fun to fuck with someone like that
