So you are saying that if I don't get LSD, that I won't be able to fishtail on dirt roads?

when you're on a dirt road you can fishtail no matter what kind of diff you have

That's wrong. I was fishtailing all over dirt roads a couple of weekends ago without the locker engaged. The kids loved it!

The TRD off-road comes with a more aggressive front suspension. The faster you drive on bumps, the stiffer the shocks become. So, your tires don't drop into every hole as you drive on dirt roads. You can get TRD Off-road with a sport package, belive it er not. I'm running a 2003 Tacoma TRD Off-Road with step-side pan with a sports package. Still only get the diff-lock and 16" rims, but, it comes with sun roof, color matched grill trim, and all power electronics. I Think the ride is much better then sport, unless you're using your truck for the wrong reasons

Maybe a dealer installed sport package, but not the TRD Sport factory package. There is no such thing as a TRD Off Road Sport.

Perhaps so, I bought the truck brand new so I didn't really question it. Just loved it and bought it! Doesn't say sport anywhere on it er anything, but in the papers that was how it was sold to me. Haha works for me.

Hmm I never drove an off road one but I love the ride of my sport one. Handles great. Nice smooth ride. Can being doing 80 - 110 and not feel like it. And it does just fine off road.

My SE-R would do in excess of 130

But seriously, why would you go over 100 in a Taco?

Is it just me or is the TRD Sport taking some heat in this thread! I switched out my factory LSD for a Detroit TrueTrack and it kicks a$$. One wheel on the pavement the other in slippery wet grass and both wheels spin. One in the air the other on the ground just a little tap on the brake and you gain the resistance you need to engage the wheel on the ground. Plus the LSD is ALWAYS on and provides pretty much what you need when you need it. The DTT is a lot more aggressive and grips ALOT harder the the factory LSD. As for the suspension my truck came with skid plates, Bilstein suspension and actually sat higher then my friends TRD off road Tacoma. But I also swaped all that out for a ProComp Stage II lift kid.... I personally think the Sport Package is WAYYYYYY better looking then the boring look of the Off road model,LOL.

i dont think anyone is bashing the sport, i'm just saying that the locker gets better traction than the lsd in mud or one wheel up situation, which nobody can logically deny. as far as suspension, they are exactly the same for the most part, the off-road has slightly thicker coils i'm told. the sport should not sit higher than an off-road unless the offroad was old and sagging and the sport was new. new they should sit at the exact same height. the guy at work that has a sport who i traded grills with sits teh same height as mine. and i will agree with you on the looks, the sport does look much better

I absolutely love driving with the hood scoop in my view... I have a TRD Sport and the hood scoop makes it look so pimp.

Wrong reason to buy a truck. If that's the case why didn't you get a caddie and put some pneumatics on it?

Uhmm.... Somehow I keep my foot on the gas more when I see that scoop, and caddies don't fly in the dirt. Please don't call me a caddie driver
