I am going to go 4wd. Thanks for all the input. Dealers are ready to sell anything on the lot. Crazy. Hard to get a real price form anyone though. All this well.... If you have a trade, finance sticker, blah, blah, blah. Damn

You guys think lockers or a LSD is needed for driving on sand? I'm considering going 4wd and I think I'd be pretty happy with just a SR5 4x4 but just curious of how it'd do with open differentials.

they both function a little different...LSD will try to direct traction to the wheel making contact, locker manual engages the axle that both wheels spin equally.

I think a locker would ultimately be better off-road, LSD is more common for on-road traction applications.

a stock 4wd can make it most places here in the sand. I've driven all over different beaches on this island with all kinds of different vehicles. What id be more worried about is the kind of tires, pressure makes a difference and pay attention on the way you drive. A locker does no good when you're buried down and a locker can actually help you bury yourself deeper. Even if you're locked, you go up the wrong incline and you're done.

It's starting to sound like I'd do decently well with just the standard SR5 package. Should save me a couple grand too for wheels and tires. I won't be going on sand too often but I just wanted to know your opinions should I decide to. It'd be strictly for fishing purposes. Thanks for the input:thumbsup:

After much fuss, we couldnt find a blue one. Was going to have to order it. Looking at about 35 plus TTL. Bought a TRD PRO instead. Only like 2k more and already quite tricked out. Seemed like a better buy, especially since limited production.
