Was it just me or was there an awful lot of coaching going on from the pits to the drivers? I thought they were supposed to stick with pure technical stuff.

 

Yep. I heard a lot of chatter about what other drivers' tire strategies were and what their pace would be at various parts of the race. I thought they strayed over the line.

The FIA might have looked at this race as a testing ground for the new rules, which I can understand. Overall I think it's a good move so long as it is fairly enforced*.

The FIA revised this on the Thursday before the race weekend allowing radio calls, just not calls such as telling the driver to change his line, and or gear selection per corner. Technical info could be passed as well as steering wheel settings such as fuel mixtures and regen settings.

The radio ban overall is stupid at this point in the season. The cars are far to complex. I'm assuming this is why the ban was relaxed before the practises started. Formula 1 was starting to win me back after I walked away from it after about Malaysia this season, but the radio ban helped me to loose interest again.

 

He certainly proved his mettle to me.

Can't imagine what that would have been like, I freak out when I'm drinking hot chocolate and it burns my mouth. I would have crashed. He's definitely a well composed driver. Hope he gets a F1 Championship some day.

I'm not sure it would actually happen , I mean why wouldn't you wait a year ? What if the McLaren / Honda is slower than the Ferrari

 

Time will tell , I would expect Ferrari's car to improve on what they learned this year versus starting for scratch for Honda

 

Ferrari dumped Di Montezemelo to keep Alonso IMO , I think he'll end up staying

 

The only competetive cars are Mercedes , and recently Red Bull and Williams
