    1. Bought a 2wd

    2. Drove out of my garage with the rear decklid open and snapped the windshield wiper off. (Thankfully that was the only damage)

    3. Plasti-dip

    4. Left trunk open at a BBQ, truck smelled like ribs for weeks

    5. Left sunroof open overnight. Monsoon rain left me with a wet ride the next morning

While camping in a remote area of Big Bend about 30 miles from the ranger station I locked my keys in my truck. Not wanting to break a window I started walking down the trail until, after a couple of miles, I found a piece of baling wire. Now I keep a door-opening key in my billfold.

    Lots to come
 I felt the same way when I sold my '99

I will play in this thread....I've had a couple of brain farts...about 6-7 years ago was backing out of the garage and hit the garage door remote; the door started down and hit my truck on the back of the cab, scratched it all up...most of it buffed out though

over 20 years ago I was changing my oil and didn't get the oil filter on straight and without double checking everything, I started the engine and oil sprayed everywhere .....but like they say...you learn from mistakes made

Left and heard something fall off the front bumper. Got out to check what fell, forgot to put it in park. Truck rolled back down the hill into the garage.... By by tool box, and back wall. Hello screaming neighbors and house guests.

A buddy and I took my dad's jeep camping. The battery was weak and dad said to park it on a hill so we could start it by coasting. We did that--about 30 feet uphill from the stream. We were fortunate that another camper was in the area. He pulled us to get started.

Another dumb mistake related to a Ford Ranger--I bought it. :)

First 2 pics: Had to go to Home Depot to get 2 2x12's and about 8 2x6's and some sheetrock. Didn't strap the wood first then the sheetrock, just strapped everything down at once. Took it easy and made a left hand turn and pretty much all the wood swung out. It was still on the truck but it was far out of line enough for it to hit another car if one was next to me. The dents on the side was from the wood falling and the one on the roof was from the wood bashing against the roof every time I hit a bump, which is pretty much all the time in New Orleans lol

Second 2 pics: Had severely trimmed a tree in my grandfather's backyard. A company was renovating the house next door to him and the head guy said he could throw stuff in there if he needed to. Only problem was they had 2 and the closest one was full and the one across the street had room. We started hauling the tree limbs to the dumpster across the street, but after a few times I said I'll back my truck up to the alley on the side of the house and we can put them all in there and bring it to the dumpster. I was so focused on not hitting his porch, I forgot about the chain link fence on my right. Didn't know I hit it until I got out to let the tailgate down and found that it was already somewhat open on the right and it wouldn't go down. So as I pull forward I hear a grinding sound that just made me want to shoot myself in the foot. Big dent with deep scratches. Also damaged the tail light.

Last pic: Was heading to work in the morning. Usually theres not any traffic with the way I take. However that morning, there was tons. Stop and go traffic. I had one of those coffee cups that you slide the top to open and close the slot to drink from it. Was too focused on that and didnt realize until I was sniffing the Ford Escape in front of me's ass that traffic wasnt moving anymore. BAM! The Escape got away with some dents on the bumper and trunk hatch. The Escape then bumped a Lexus RX300 and put some scratches on her bumper as well. And lucky for me, the woman I hit was pregnant and the other woman that got bumped said her lease was up in December :(

I'm only 19 so, I'll probably have more come over the years. Also, the money I was going to spend on full OME suspension now has to go to fixing my truck. Yay!

On my old car (mk3 Jetta Wolfsburg) I modded the airbox with a jig saw. Also took out a part of the grill to get all that "cold air." Quick background to the story is I worked at a small ski resort and one day we get about 18 inches of snow. Being 19 fresh pow pow (powder for you old folk) got the best of me and I was doing donuts at the parking lot on my way home. Then maybe a minute later it throws a CEL. So I stop and pop the hood. The ENTIRE engine bay is packed with snow, including the airbox and troublesome electronics VWs often have. So after digging around in my engine bay and cleaning my airbox out a little (luckily I had a K&N oily filter which helped to stop the water from melting snow) I barely made it home on limp mode staying under 2k RPM...

Next week I bought an OEM airbox after my CEL stopped coming back.

On my 3rd gen 4runner when I was younger I was carrying the spare inside the trunk since we had swapped it out due to a flat. So I tried putting it under the hitch and aperantly I did not secure it right  I thought I did and when we needed to use it again it wasn't there so it must of fell off :notsure: till this day I don't carry a spare glad it wasn't the oem five star rim though :)

Another one would be I bought 4x2

Biggest mistake in my truck was taking it to the dealer for an oil change.

    Ding! Ding! Ding!
You are a winner.... and I a dumb loser :(

Thankfully, the belt doesn't look damaged. Though I will still be changing it out as I have 140K on truck and I've never replaced it.

I started hearing a rattling noise mostly upon acceleration which I thought was my tranny going out. Thankfully it was just me being stupid and forgetting this in there .
