So looks like my driver's side rear 5100's are leaking (see pics below). I know they are lifetime warranty and am working on that, but in the mean time ordered a new shock. Just curious your guy's thoughts. Does this happen often. Shocks are only a year old and my truck is for the most part a street queen, minus some dirt at the local MX tracks. Thinking I just got unlucky. Anywho thoughts appreciated. Thanks. Zach

Bilstein 5100's on all four corners. Front set @ 0 with OME 883x coils. Alcon leaf springs. Viper Alarm. Wet Okole seat covers. WeatherTech Floor liners front and back. Oem Toyota chrome exhaust tip. ARE Shell. America Outlaw Wheels.
I just went throw this my self. Mine where not leaking that much. Just started to seep throw the zip tie. I had around 3100 miles on mineand never off roaded . I contacted wheelers where I had purchased them from and they told me to take some pic's and send to them. The next day they told me that I needed to send them to RCD and that they would take a couple of weeks to determine if they where going to warranty them. So I called Bilstien directly and spoke to Lisa how was very helpful. She had me ship them to her. A day after receiving them shipped me two new one's. She told me that her and one other person over saw all the warranty for Bilstien and that she was not aware of this issue with the 5100"s. She did say that the 5100"s are designed to have a little fluid seep to lub the seal but not as much as what we all have been seeing. I would contact how you originally purchased them from and give them the opportunity to make it right and if they are not helpful then do what I did and go straight to Bilstien. Maybe if Bilstien becomes aware of this issue they may start to look into this. Hope this helps you and any other with this issue .

I have a 2012 DCSB TRD Sport that is a daily driver, never offroad. Got an Oil change at the dealership last week because I'm at 33K miles and the bumper-to-bumper warranty expires at 36k, so I wanted to have the oil change there so they could do a full inspection and let me know of anything that could be going on that would be covered by that warranty. turns out both of my rear shocks were leaking, and they replaced both of them for free.

I myself never saw them leaking, so I dont know how bad it was. Ive read the bilsteins have a "weeping seal" which means they slightly leak to lube part of the shock or something? Admittedly I dont know the first thing about all that. Anyways, If thats what they saw and they replaced my shocks for no reason, I still got new shocks.. so I'm not mad.

I've seen a few 5100s who have topped out like the picture you showed. Even Toytec have said with a AAL it shouldn't top out like that.

ya not sure how it topped out. I dont offroad or flex at all and the passenger side looks immaculate too, only have a 2.5-3'' lift on her. Hard to see me using up the extra down travel with the extended 5100's to top it out like that. Just curious what happened so I can avoid. Kinda disappointed with Billies as of now.
