Excellent work, Nathan. Congrats on the win, that's one bad-ass siege engine.

Thanks for that. We had a great time building and launching it. Now on to the design for next years machine. :)

It's been quite a while since I last thought about my catapult. When we finished the contest we took it apart and put it in the basement of my office. Our intentions were to move it from the hallway in the basement to one of our companies rooms down there. Well, work got busy and we forgot about it for a couple of months. After a while I went down to check on it. Guess what, it wasn't there!

I figured it had been moved out of the way since it was in the hallway and let it slide. I asked the maintenance staff about it several times, but always got the same response. They didn't know anything about it. After a while I figured that someone had just thrown it away.

I didn't have a place to store it, so my only option would have been to sell it. Since we won the competition we were not out any money so we had only lost our time in building it.

Well, that all changed last night. I was surfing craigslist, actually searching for fire trucks, and just happened to breeze past a familiar looking object. I clicked on the ad, and found my f1cking catapult! Two years later and someone has my catapult listed on craigslist for $575!

I've sent the guy an email expressing interest in seeing the video of it working. We'll see if he responds. It'll be a real shock if it turns out to be one of the maintenance guys.

So what would you do? Yes, I'm 100% positive that this is my catapult. Here's the picture from the ad.

    Look familiar?

I'll see if the guy responds to my email. He can either pay me for the catapult or have the cops called on him. If it's one of the maintenance guys then there's a good chance of him getting fired.

Damn straight it belongs to me.

Holy shit. I think the last time the police got a report of a stolen trebuchet, the police were called "the constabulary."

Hell yes I'd call the cops on him. He needs to learn how to live within a society and respect personal property. Alternatively, use the historically correct punishment. Stake him to the ground and then attach his junk to the sling and fire at will.

Actually, Nathan, you might want to do a little research first before contacting the constabulary. Do you have a permit for that trebuchet?

I did check with the local authorities. I'm in the clear due to it not being concealable. :D
