He typically "moves" a car before the warranty expires (more than enough disposable $$) here and now is how he lives... He doesn't regret these type of purchases. His support of my situation, was totally worth it. I'll get him to snap a photo this weekend..

Seems to me, when we happen stumble on a vehicle that is problem free or there are those that are extremely diligent in their research and except nothing but "perfection" .. there is a high level of loyalty. Then there are those which have had a negative experience with a manufacturer, I fall into this category at this time with Toyota. Yes, "We" may seem to have an ax to grind, if the roles/situations were reversed, our feelings and opinions would probably take a 180 as well.

Sorry to say.. the vibration remains. It feels better on the road, corners etc. and is quieter, and I think they look better than the 16" stockers.

I've beet told of guy in Nashville that knows how to trace where vibrations are coming from. He run Clinards Drive Shaft Shop and from I've been told, by several people he is the man.

2005 and up Tacomas have had this problem since the change, as long as people keep buying them Toyota wil not retool. so many Fanboys, as i said before, so many short comings Toyota has never fully addressed. Toyota is not the company it used to be, after the worst vehicle i ever owned a 92 4Runner, i gave them another chance with my 2005 Tacoma 4x4 dblcab. the Nissans i owned in between were alot better vehicles in my opinion. when i went thru arbitration, it was a person that worked at the dealership and had no clue what i was even talking about.

I'm not a fan boy. This is my first tacoma. It's had a few rattles and sqeaks but it has been a great truck IMHO. I came from a Nissan Juke that had several electrical bugs. I didn't blame nissan and I traded the small SUV rather than attempt any legal proceedings.

The tacoma has a well deserved reputation for durability and reliability that far surpasses the other midsized trucks that have been available since 2005.

I'm really sorry this member has a lemon and you're right that the vibes are a common issue, but those things don't make the tacoma junk. They are known issues that a well researched buyer should be looking for when he buys his trucks.

My 10 year old truck has had 2 issues.

Leaking AC 80$ for a condenser. Rock hit it can't do much about that.

Axle Seal went bad after playing in the mud every weekend all spring.

    Not bad at all imo.

Copious driveline vibration wasn't in the flyer I got from the dealer. It also wasn't listed in their website...

No one should be expected to scour the Toyota forums looking for defects that the manufacturer will not fix.

    Agreed,Thanks Joe.

Toyota denying that the problem exists.. BS! But wait, there's more.. so after multiple visits and an arbitration hearing, they state that vibration is normal and a characteristic of the model? Conflicting reports and and information. The testing (with a special device that measures vibrations) that was done by the field service technician on our truck and 1 other Tacoma Access Cab PreRunner, built at the same plant, same month had similar vibrations. Let's see the report.. nothing doing, Toyota will not release the report or any specifics about it.

I'm not saying everything Toyota builds is junk, but mine and from what I've gathered here and at the dealer, several more have serious vibration issues at highway speeds that they cannot fix and choose to ignore.

It's great that so many people have had zero issues with their rides, honestly.. I wish mine was the same. That's why I continue to state that mine is a lemon.

Me too brother, me too! There is a bit of a change, but I just don't know how to diagnose it. The speed (mph) at which the vibration really gets bad has increased a bit. The vibrations seems to start around 75mph and get really bad above 80-85mph. And it will periodically calm down or almost completely stop vibrating (for a 5-10 seconds) while maintaining 75-80 and then come back.

I've tried different stretches of highway, switched lanes and it's the same. This morning while driving it in to the dealer, again.. I had my wife maintain 80-85mph while I drove on either side of the truck to see if anything looked suspicious.. nothing looked abnormal.

The reason it's going back to the dealer again, no A/C. Turns out a line from the AC compressor fractured somehow, from the vibration?? The dealer said they had no idea what caused it, they've never seen it happen before.

We've had it almost 6 months now, only 2K miles away from our first oil change.. been in the shop 10 plus times now, what a PITA.

That would be awesome. The neighbor might even let us use his 2 post lift.

I talked to a friend at Firestone in Smyrna, he referred me to Clinards Drive shaft, guess Mr. Clinard is THE man when it comes to DS issues, custom build etc. I Talked to him today, he gave me the name of another gent that ran a suspension shop, Hendly's I think. Mr. Clinard said this guy can diagnose just about any vibration or problem with any suspension on any vehicle. He retired, sold the shop and works at Nashville Warehouse tire and repair part time to stay involved with vehicles etc.. I left a mssg for him and will try to get the truck over there on Thursday after picking it up from the dealer.

Maybe you should post a list of things you have already tried to fix it in the OP?

I'm sure it will help people who are looking for a fix themselves and it might help people notice something you should try.

That is if I haven't noticed it

You didn't google " common issues for(insert vehicle)" before you bought?

Doing that is how I found TW

This website is full of sarcasm and the associated individuals who choose to use it unwisely.

I'm not going to knock the op. He went down a path to fast and now he's trying to fix it. I have nothing against the guy. The people who do research and find this forum will hopefully understand better what to look for on there new Tacoma to avoid having a problem like the op does. Now I'm going to grab my popcorn and see if he manages to fix this without buying a new frontier.

Btw what's with us marines being pricks. Don't they get to kick enough ass to satisfy there egos? :p

This is the craziest thread. Is the whole thing meant to be a troll? After several pages I still couldn't find that the virbration complaint was positively diagnosed. I'm not going to read through the whole thing.

The vibration, if I read correctly, is i) reproducible, and ii) obvious, and iii) objectionable.

I personally believe that a good and ethical automotive mechanic should be able to diagnose such a vibration. It's done through a process of elimination. Gradually focusing down onto the problem or problems.

Crying out loud. Vibrations aren't magic. There's not some wizard standing on a sidewalk waving a vibration wand at the OP?

If it has been correctly diagnosed and resolved on some page somewhere, then please forgive me.

I work for a company that's based in Calgary so I can't be that bad. Hell, that practically makes me more Canadian that anyone who lives in Quebec...

Seriously though, implying that it's anyone's fault for not knowing Toyota was going to try and screw them over is akin to implying that it's the rape victims fault for wearing that short skirt...

For me and you, it's easy. By lurking around these forums I know exactly what to look for when I go down to pick up the Tacoma I ordered. There are still people without internet at all (shocking I know). If this is such a known issue, Toyota should disclose it at least at the time of sale.

BTW, Marines are supposed to be belligerent, it's almost as important as the ability to look so damn good in uniform... If you really want to meet some pricks you should go through Canadian customs at the Calgary airport.

I really hope the OP is able to stick it to Toyota. I had a 2011 GT500 that has a "known" clutch issue, that Ford wasn't publicly admitting. They were willing to work with me on the issue and consequently I purchased (2) more brand new Fords after that.

When you have to say with all do respect before insulting someone about replying to a thread, you're just being fascitious. I'm here because I have a tacoma and like talking truck. Like I said, I want to see the resolution from all of this because it interests me.

If that bothers you somehow that's not my problem. Like it's been said these vibes have to be coming from somewhere and the where is what is interesting to me at this point. I'm also soured that the OP is having this experience with toyota and I hope it resolves itself positively in the end. I'm not holding my breath though.

Btw I live just outside calgary, was born on the Quebec border, and my fiancé is ex-cbsa. Lmfao.
