It's going well. All the sections of the flat roof are framed and sheeted. All of our special order materials should be showing up starting this week. Still waiting for a confirmation on delivery of glass right now

Because OE is best for CV's. The rest are cheap crap IMHO. Never seen one last like an OE will. I have over 90k on mine and one may be bad.

Call these guys for the good stuff: http://www.cvjreman.com/about.php

I don't know anyone who has bought aftermarket and they have lasted long that wheels.

Scott's 4Runner came with the cheap ones and he tried to send them to CVJ as cores... they laughed at him and said no way. They will not accept any CV as a core unless it's from Toyota. They won't even try and rebuild them.

Its your fault. You jinxed me
Noticed the driver side is cracking too - not leaking just yet so I'm getting both replaced tomorrow. I have a trip planned this weekend and can't wait. Can't afford Toyota - I'd be out over a grand just for the parts.

I drive the 4Runner to and from work. If it fails, I will get another one and chalk it up to lesson learned.

Not my fault you don't inspect or take care of your truck.

Also not my fault you have no emergency fund for things like this.

Call up CVJ like I said. I spent something like $2-300 for 2 CV's. Much better than $300+ a pop.

You put in the other crap be prepared to be on the side of the road sooner than later.

Yea, not to many people know about the issues they have. Scott and Lurry can tell you some good stories LMAO. Lurrys made it I think 50' into the trail before his brand new ones blew up.

I do take care. I was underneath 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. But with 112k I guess things will need to be replaced. Like I said, I need to be on te road this weekend, no time to order parts. I have to go with what's available locally

It's just the rubber boots cracked I'm sure. Demand the OEMs back and reboot them and hang on to them.
I had one go right when I was in the middle of moving and no time and no where to wrench and no time to research. The shop I went to, and I trust the owner, a former Toytoa and Jeep owner who has done a lot of time on the Rubicaon and is really picky about which vendors and parts he recommends, recommended EMPIs, and these are new manufactured, not reman.

I did a bit of googling and asking, EMPI seemed to have a good rep, especially among the VW perfromance crowd. But I did find evidence that they were, or had been, bought out by another firm that might cause a quality change, told the mechanic about that, he hadn' heard it, he researched with his vendros, and sure enough, they were in transition, so he said he'd keep an eye on quality, because he ditches vendors when they outsrouce and cut costs....now going under the name Empire.

    Anyhoooo.

If you still have an option...

New old wheels. Off a limited first gen tundra/sequoia. Need to find a fifth now. And some a/t for them.

Yeah. I think they look good on the silver. I'm torn on dipping them at some point. Need to find new tires first. Also need to get the tpms updated to these sensors

I saw some 5-stars like mine done in a dark gun metal powdercoat. It looked badass.

    What ATs are you after?

Not sure yet. Looking around at take offs right now. Most I'm finding is typical bfg ats.

I'm thinking 265/70/17, 255/80 or 275/70. I'm looking for any of them and trying to figure out which ones new would be best

the passenger side is clicking/popping - its probably shot.
and what part of " I don't have time to order anything, I have a road trip on Friday morning" is so hard to understand? Unless the man in brown is going to drop those off on my porch by 8am tomorrow :notsure: besides, I don't listen to you for truck advice anymore remember?

    1. Oh shit, that's bad.
    2. Oh yeah. I'm under pre-roadtrip duress too. Pre-furbishing Dakars before install was not really on my list, but no choice in my opinion.
    3. You should get Dakars. The ride is sooooooo much better. After I got the 5-pack off, which is still has life, but is not up to the task of my increasing loads, I could see how the bushing design, especially front hanger, is flawed. The large face of the rubber bushing is in complete contact with the frame mounting tabs, and has rubbed them to a bright shiny polish. Bad. If you look at the OEM and the OME front hanger bushings, only the tips of the metal sleeve, which are gnurled to dig into the tabs with metal-to-metal contact under torque, contact the flanges. Also, these should be torqued when the suspension is loaded in static ride stance. If not, I think that will contribute to ride quality, wear, and squeaking too. But your'e a girl so you don't understand any of that.
