Searched through about 4,523 different threads trying to find this but answers are always so inconsistent.

Getting a plate bumper soon and so I'm raising the front end, I want 2 inches after the plate bumper (All-Pro Apex, full hoops, which is 150lbs). Looking at OME, would I need the 886 coils or would that raise it higher than 2 inches even with the bumper?

Trying to avoid UCAs. I'd prefer 885 coils if it would put me at 2 inches with the bumper.

Or should I just get 5100s at the 2.5 setting. :goingcrazy:

I've had the 885 on mine. Stock bumper 4cyl 4wd. After about 40K miles on it the springs have settled about 3/4" . While it doesnt seem a lot it is very noticeable. If the bumper is in that 150# range I say go straight for the 886 coils. Maybe down the road you add lights or a winch and it just saves the hassle of swapping coils. I'll add if you live in the Northeast or anywhere it snows the OME are going to rust up within a month. Mine look like crap now and have only seen one winter. Between that and the sagging I'm going a different route

I thought those lift even higher than 886?

Do you have the older version of the coils? I think the new X coils dont sag as much. I live in NC though not the northeast

Not sure if they have a 887.... I bought the kit just about a year ago to be honest. if they came out with new sets since then i'm not sure. You guys dont get enough snow to worry about it then, just really make sure to keep them clean it should hold up. Do you have the V6 or 4cyl?

The 886 gives just a little bit more height mainly cause the spring is stiffer (885 is 590lb/inch and the 886 is 660lb/inch) With the V6 I say go with the 886. You can ditch the front sway bar as well

I started out with 885's with an aluminum plate bumper, 8K winch (w/synthetic line). At first it looked fine but within 6-8 months it settled approximately .75 (+/- .00257). I was also able to get it aligned with the OEM UCA's. I just upgraded to 886's and TC UCA's and it's back where I wanted it. I wish I had done the 886's in the first place.

I'm just confused because I looked at Wheelers Offroad...their site says that on a 2010+ 4runner with weight up front that it still provides 2.5-3 inches of lift. And 4runners are already heavier than Tacomas I thought

    Guess I'm in between 886 and 887.

I want to keep stock UCAs as well which is the issue.

Ok, so not the 886. But why 887s then if they supposedly handle more weight? According to wheelers site at least.

I thought the 887s have the same spring rate as the 885s but the 887s are 5mm taller? :notsure:

Trying to find what I can about the 887s but I'm having trouble getting information on em

^ok so then the information on wheelers website is misleading :frusty:

Sounds like 887s should be the way to go then haha.
