Intake Manifold Spacer 4.0l Coming!

The dyno charts for the 2011 show results starting at 2750 rpm.
The text says "@ approx. 3125 rpm 20+ Torque ft. lbs. gain!"

Honestly, I very seldom rev my truck past 2500, and reach 3000 rpm even less than that.

I'd be down with more off idle to 3000 torque, if it's there, and very noticeable.

 

If you have feather foot...don't buy it.......most people(especially the S/C crowd) like to mash it to the floor now and again...to each his own....

 

Can you use this spacer with the trd supercharger?

Actually if you did mean to say "feather foot" then this can benefit you. Because of the extra power gained, then less throttle is required to get the same output, therefore less gas is used, in turn gives you better mpg. However if you have a "lead foot" like me, you still obviously get more power, but will not see better mpg. So this spacer can benefit many different types of drivers and different reasons for needing it.

 

Can I just purchase the gasket?

 

I order my IMS some months ago, and installed it about 4 weeks ago. I've run around 4 tanks of gas. Following is my review:

Order process
o never dealt with a person or vendor who did not send out shipping notifications, I don't agree with not sending them out and minmally should be noted that no confirmation will be sent
o IMS was delivered within 6 days from my order day though, just didn't know it was on its way

Unboxing
o nice looking woork, the IMS is detailed and smoothed very well and the gasket fits

Installation
o went well overall
o problem is that during the install, on my truck there is a bracket on the back of the upper manifold that contains the heater core hoses and the wiring harness. this bracket is not documented in the instructions and is a royal PITA to deal with, you have to either unbolt the bracket (much more difficult than it sounds) or get the hoses and harness disconnected from the bracket (again, more difficult than it sounds) as the bracket is up against the firewall, no room, and can't see back there, anyway royal PITA
o even if the vnedor does not have a truck with this bracket, instructions should reference that late model trucks have that bracket and be prepared to deal with it
o as it turns out, I spent as much time on just that bracket as I did the rest of the install
o other then the bracket, very easy to install
o one note is to try and line up the IMS, gasket and lower manifold as there is some play and it you are off, it can affect the flow due to the port mismatches.

Use
o I do not have any figures to back this up yet
o I did not notice any difference in performance, for or against
o I've run 4 tanks of gas through and have seen no mpg differences, for or against
o overall, I am a bit disappointed, I am considering taking it off and selling it, but I do want to run some 0-60 and 1/4 mile times first

 

Just put my spacer on and reset the computer ( a must after all mods) and so far it's running great...
combined with my cat back part throttle acceleration is great and pulls much harder, passing is better, holds speed much better and with both I'm getting better MPG so far...
Idle seams higher and exhaust seams louder at lower rpm intake my be louder also...
So far great mod for low RPM torque.
The computer is still adjusting but so far real good.

After my 1000 mile trip up north, this is a great mod, passing power with the cat back is great. I was passing cars like crazy even double passing cars, first time truck hit over 90mph in 4 years.

I added the spacer after I added my 2 1/2" cat back exhaust with a 18" round muffler. The exhaust worked good but lost some low end torque but had great top end. I was thinking about getting the spacer, I thought the spacer would work good with the exhaust and I was right.

The combination of my intake mods, cat back and adding the spacer brought everything together and worked great. The truck is just fast and the motor rocks above 3,000 rpm. It feels like a hot rod and I'm finally happy with the motor, it's just fun to drive. I look forward to passing and stop lights.

I also picked up some mileage, I was getting 17 mpg with the 32" coopers at any speed, after the exhaust and spacer I averaged 18.6 with a high of 19.8, my new record high ever. my first fill up was 20.1 but the computer was still running lean.

So good mod, worth the money.

I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe there are a couple guys on here running them with a SC.

Wow, what a thread! So some guys bolt it on and say wow. Some do so with other mods and say wow. Some say it doesn't do a thing. Crap! 72 pages of thread and still no firm yes or no....or did I wildly miss something?

 

I have this spacer on my truck, no other mods, and after a couple of months, my mpg's are at 17-18mpgs, from 16.5. I guess a bit more holding power on hills at lower rpms. could be in my mind, could be the truck breaking in still. I wont take it off to find out though. at least not now. truck currently has 27k. installed prolly at 24k.

 

to me, it's a firm yes. bigger difference than my shorty headers ever made.
