See my above post for included parts ..... But I believe it includes brake lines and other items attached to the frame since they would probably not safely survive the transfer. However consumables (i.e., brake pads) may incur a charge? Regardless, get a firm quote for ALL charges to you BEFORE they take your truck...

    Sorry, not clear.

    I read the list.

I was asking ministrytaco if they were trying to sell him extra uncovered parts not on the posted lists.

Ok guys I'm back, had an issue with log in so I changed my name to what I originally though I'd signed up as. Was out of town got back last nite, went to pickup truck this am they left it outside for me to get today. Service order states I need additional parts for frame install with no other explanation. This truck has low miles just rolled past 28K on way home this AM so brakes and everything else are good. Thanks for all the replies and advise so far, plan to go at this from corporate end at this time. Not real confidant at the techs at this point as the low tire warning lite is now on, most likely because the tech didn't put the sensor on the spare in the right spot when it was reinstalled. I can fix that today, do all my own maintenance like oil changes so the only time this has been to a dealer is for recalls. Please continue with any and all help on this matter. Here's a pic of my taco.

Just as a thought spare was put back wrong, and I'm supposed to believe these guys can take my truck off its frame correctly?

Here's the list of replacement parts they gave me yesterday. Not sure what other parts you need...unless the dealer doesn't have all the parts to do the swap

Thanks Aloe been making copy's of everything that coming up in this thread. Didn't know about the gas pedal replacement either, they went at mine with a hacksaw on the last recall and it looks like crap. They can put a new one on when they fix the frame.

I refused that recall. I already changed to the new all weather mats & I didn't want them cutting my accelerator.

I haven't done that one either. I have the all weather mats, and my pedal is no where near them.

I'd like to know this as well. I've got an early 2006 that looks ok, but it's lived in WA state it's whole life, and we don't salt the roads here.

I'm fairly concerned the rust problem could be an issue I might face down the road though, even thought it might not be an issue right now.

Does anyone know if any of the old frames got dipped correctly and the rust won't be an issue?

I apologize for my lack of knowledge, and if this is a silly question, but if the frame gets replaced, does any of the fluids get drained/refilled, such as diffs. or tranny, brakes, etc.? I'm just not familiar with the process of what all is involved replacing the frame, was just curious.

Interesting. It says "covered components if frame replacement is needed" we shouldn't be charged for those parts or labor. I got my letter today, it clearly states "no charge to you" in bold print!

I would think affected systems would be refilled, like the brake lines get replaced with a new frame.

I'd think, as stated above, anything they remove would be done (i.e. Brake fluids as stated previously since they changed the brake lines). Anything else they would be sure it's safe and topped of. For example, They may not drain and refill the diff but would check and top it off and advise any other issues.

    IMO

My 2005 Tacoma frame started to rust not long after I bought it (new) and was leaving rust spots all along the garage floor under both sides of the frame. About 5 years ago the dealer inspected it and said it was surface rust. I just bought a hitch for it and while I was underneath the rear checking out the bolts to remove I noticed so much rust that I was not sure it would hold the hitch... Every year that surface rust layer is disintegrating and the frame is getting thinner and thinner...

The dealer inspected it again last Friday per my request and they found a pretty large hole(s) on the drivers side frame on the inside (see pic).

A new frame from Toyota is on order :)

I live in CT, dealer is in RI.

Went another round with Toyota today they still expect me to pay for some items. Why is it my problem if a perfectly good part gets broken, shocks for example because they need to be removed to replace frame. And the rear bumper could be my expense if it has to be cut off the frame. Are you kidding me?
