What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Moose these days - much looser moose now than moose back in the day, and really, have you seen the body roll they are sporting? Sway bars are pretty much OEM now on any moose in the know. Kind of hard on mama moose if you know what I mean, but man those moose can take a turn now Shhhhheeeeeeeessshhhh! You see a moose coming at you and it takes a sharp turn and a hoof comes up off the ground, right after evacuating your bowels and before you scream "AAIIIEEEEEEE!" like a little girl, yell out "GET A SWAY BAR YOU DAMN MISCREANT!". At least , I think that's why a moose would have one, but I could be totally wrong on that one.

I often find myself thinking, "man... if only they were like this back when I was in high school..."

 

My trucks been getting a lot of attention all the sudden. Random people at work chatting for 20 minutes about it, two different guys in the REI parking lot asking about the bumper and RTT...I feel like a celebrity.

 

It's fall. People slow down now to talk because it is no longer the mad summer dash to go and do things while we still have summer.

At least that's my take on it. And your truck is pretty cool, just needs bigger tires!

The 520xl CB states it uses a SO-239 antenna connector. Does that mean I need a coaxle cable with SO-239 connectors or will the coaxle cable with PI-259 connectors work?

I have a firestik, tailgate mount, K-4A stud, SS antenna spring, 18' coaxle line, and a PA. Anything else I would need?

 

The SO-239 is what the PL-259 connector threads onto. So get your coax with a PL-259 connector and you're good to go. And that's all you should need if you have the k-4a stud.

 

Will 4.56 gears fit on a carrier built for 3.91 gears?

 

Yes.

They make 4.56s for both the 8" (elocker) diff and the 8.4" (open) diff.

Which one do you have?

Edit: and of course the 7.5" front diff.

 

I really want to fit 35s on my 95 tacoma only thing i got on there is a 3 inch lift. i just got 33s right now. I'm willing to trim/cut and bang the shit out of it, only thing unsure is tubing it like what i've been reading about.

 

I have the 8.4.

Just debating right now between a complete 3rd vs having someone install the gears.

 

If you have the coin, do a locker while you're in there. Huge advantage on the trail.
