Tell him most pro's change routines every 3-4 months. I never do the same stuff in consecutive weeks. It can be as simple as variating from barbells to dumbbells. Yeah, it's 70-80% diet, but you can't count out that damn 20-30% of good, hard lifting! Why wouldn't he want to progress on the front and back squat at the same time?! That makes no sense lol. Machines suck ass compared to squats. The squat, IMO, is the single-greatest exercise there is, followed closely by dl's. Since he likes YouTbe videos so much, direct him to this one:

I don't know much about body building but I agree with zp, if I could only do one exercise it would be squat/deadlift. Which one is best I couldn't tell ya

I tried to push all of these points on him over the years, but nope. he thinks front squats are too "advanced" to do without being super strong in everything else.
little things like squatting and DLing in running shoes too. refuses to try without because it'd "look stupid"
ask to take a form check vid for me, "nah man, I'll just tell you what you're doing wrong"
    "Oh sorry, I wasn't watching"

I have a friend that dl's in cowboy boots to keep his feet elevated. I generally just make sure whatever shoes I wear have a thick heel…or just do them in my socks. 9 times out of 10, I'm not that serious about it though lol

Lower B today. I took one of the NO Explode sample packs we got from BSN today and I kinda like it. It almost tastes carbonated. When I shook it up in my water bottle, I thought the bottle was gonna explode, which has never happened with any other pre I've used. The taste was even bubbly. Any chemists (Cody) out there care to explain what causes this? Aside from not being able to chug it like a shot of tequila like I usually do, it was good. It kicked in and I was ready to go!

    squats: 135x10, 185x12, 225x10, 225x10, 185x10
    stiff-legged deadlifts: 135x15, 185x12, 185x12, 185x12
    leg extensions: 3 sets of 10 @ 130
    seated leg curls: 3 sets of 10 @ 120
leg press calve raises: 3 sets of 12 @ 330
seated calve raises: 3 sets of 10 @ 90 (1 sec pause @ top and bottom)

It will explode. Funny story, back in the day I was standing in my buddies dorm room shaking up my NO and chit chatting. Shake shake shake boom! Lid blew open and shit went everywhere. That was a fun time.

    I tried NO

    gave me the massive shits

    haha

looked over the ingredients... they have sodium bicarbonate in one of their proprietary blends, and there's a bunch of acidic shit mixed in their flavorings, like citric acid

probably just a middle school baking soda+vinegar= CO2 gas evolution
