    Dude.. don't claim anything that small. YES your premium will go up. What's your deductible anyway? I bet that your deductible is a big chunk of what it would cost to get a new tailgate anyway, so you should go ahead and get the tailgate and pay a little extra instead of making a claim on insurance that you'll be paying for for a LONG time.

    No point in claiming it and raising your rates when it'll be cheaper in the long run to take care of it yourself. New tailgate here is $400, I'm guessing your deductible is $500.

    here are the pics... i actually took the pics after i had it waxed... it looked a lot worse before... now it's just a dent.

    it was completely silent... didn't even know i hit it until i looked up and saw nothing but leaves in my backup cam...

    I would bend it and take it to the dealer for the TSB and get a new FREE tailgate.

    I bent mine using this method:
    1) Open tailgate
    2) Stand on top of tailgate facing away from the truck with your heels on the edge.
    3) Jump up and down on one leg until it bends right in the middle.

    This worked for me :D
