that bow tie upfront begs to differ. there is a couple on some local chevy lots here in decatur, AL. i realize that these pics are at a sema convention but the reaper does exist and looks just as bad or worse in person.

Most domestics do not sell for MSRP.

How much is a fully loaded Taco? 35k. So it will be close to the same with the Chevy having much more to offer.

That's a bit of an overstatement, in Canada anyways. I walked off lot with my truck for around 37K CAN dollars. With MSRP, delivery, and taxes I should of paid around 41K CAN dollars. I had tires and a 6 year warranty rolled into and factored into those prices just FYI as well. So I managed to get my truck for about 5K off. Toyota, in my experience, is very willing to wheel and deal when you're dead serious about buying and they have a few vehicles on lot.

Last time I looked at a Colorado, when I bought my Ranger in 2005, the most a dealer would give me off MSRP was $3,500. It's one of the many reasons I went with the Ranger. The Chevy dealer even told me he'd get me into a Z71 Silverado for 500 bucks over the price he was willing to sell a Z71 Colorado.

My point is, in Canada, Chevy had the Silverado so heavily discounted to keep up with Ford and Dodge pricing/deals that the Colorado never ever made sense financially. The dealer invoice on Colorado's was always almost as high as the Silverado after the dealers volume and other discounts were factored in. I'm gambling the same thing will happen with the new Colorado, which will limit sales at any dealership that sells a good amount of Silverado's. Dealers won't go as far in discounting the Colorado as they will it's bigger cousin.

That was the biggest issue with the past Colorado, Gm wouldn't offer any or very little incentives on it and dealers were eager to make you a better deal on the Silverado. Other issue with the past Colorado is the resale was horrible on them, many of my friends and myself owned Colorado's and all took a bath when it was time to unload them.

^GM still could've kept the lower corner of the cab square:

Because Toyota has you sign a release stating you will not discuss what you see or experience inside their gates, until after the product has been released to the general public, or you will be sued. Not to mention Toyota doesn't care what people think.

Buying a new Colorado and betting chevy made a relieable vehicle that would hold up past 100k miles.. Is like betting on a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.:D

    So you got 5K off.

Last time I went to buy a Tacoma they told me they'll give me a whopping $500 off of MSRP. They said they have no incentive to discount them because they sell so fast.

I'm not saying that the Colorado will be heavily discounted, but it's a bit unfair to point out the MSRP when we all know how the pricing model works for the big 3 compared to Toyota.

You're missing my point. As others have said, chevy never discounted the Colorado in the past very much. Dealers often could offer similar out the door prices on silverado's over colorado's. This truck will not receive the huge, 3500-10000 dollar rebates that you can easy get on the silverado. Period.

Get your toyota salesman's name and tell him you're only interested in buying at "x" price. Try a few dealers within a hundred miles. This works best if you already have a newer vehicle with financing so they know you'll be approved or if you have cash. I guarantee they hit a slow period at some time of year and you'll get a call for an offer on a tacoms that's a whole lot better than 500 bucks. Also try rolling some high profit items in there for them, like a warranty or some aftermarket stuff.

There's room to work with toyota if you play your cards right. Know what you're willing to pay by doing your research then follow a plan to get that price. Don't get frustrated when the dealer wants to give you no discounts when you're looking to buy today, they know they don't have to discount you then because you're going to walk away with a truck whatever price they give you or someone else will at that price. Think about it, Ive seen it where at a toyota dealership that a tacoma gets sold right out from under another buyers nose!

The new Colorado will probably sell well and given GM's pricing history you're more likely to get an offer on a similar silverado than have a GM dealer sell you a Colorado heavily discounted.

Anyways my point is Toyota may not move like the big three on there vehicles but they still want to sell trucks and make money when times are tougher. From the sounds of it the Colorado will be priced high in the USA and even higher in Canada compared to a Tacoma and I don't think Chevy dealers, for the reasons mentioned above, will try to target Tacoma sales with Colorado sales. Maybe the odd one will drop a Silverado deal on you right away but not a Colorado deal.

If you truck messed up under warranty (and it wasn't your fault) they have to fix it, period. There is no if, and, or, but, they have to fix it by law. You're saying they have not / did not? If that was the case a quick phone call to the BBB will set them straight pretty fast..

The electrical issue hasn't happened again but they have not identified the cause of the issue either. The 4x4 wouldn't engage because there was something wrong with the front differential/hubs and that was preventing the electronic transfer case from engaging 4x4. They did a couple of days of diagnostic work to finally get it to engage properly again. I give kudo's to my dealer for calling me at the end of each day to let me know where they were with the repair. He usually thought the next thing they tried would fix it... but I appreciated the feeling of being in the know with what they did with the truck.

I've worked with BBB before on a problem with one of my utility providers. I won't be a part of that circle jerk again. They only have some power when you deal with one of there accredited businesses, and since most dealers in Canada choose not to be accredited my results would be piss poor given my experience.

Relax, my point was that my Ram has not been what I would define as a reliable vehicle. I had a 2007 1/2 ton Dodge that developed several leaks in the emissions control device, I'm not sure exactly what that is or has to do with the gas tank but that's what Dodge told me, attached to the gas tank which somehow would not only throw a check engine but also put the truck into limp mode . It sucked driving home in a brand new truck that couldn't pass or accelerate efficiently on an undivided highway in any condition.

IMHO Ram trucks are cheap and cheap for a reason. That's my opinion until I get one through work that impresses me. That is all.

    And you know this how?

The car market is vastly different than the last time the Colorado sold.

That was two years ago, it hasn't changed that much. The incentives offered on not only the Silverado but other fullsizes like the ram make a 37-40k mid size not so inticing.
