Yeah I was looking at rock sliders too, some bolt on ones cause I feel iffy about anyone welding onto my frame. I estimate a good 300 to 500lbs depending, especially if I am going for full plate bumpers. My bed rack is looking like 100# if made out of aluminum and 250# if made out of steel  I'll try and lighten it, but it integrates into the frame as well, courtesy of benbacher's helpful tip. so fully loaded with gear for a nice weekend trip I say I could easily add 500+ pounds over stock. I am looking at the Dakar Leaf pack with add a leaf, from what I understand the Dakars have a heavier spring rate then stock so they should be able to handle increased load and maintain a proper ride height and ride quality when under heavy load

20% tint on all windows, Deckplate mod, satoshi-ish grille, blacked out and/or body matched emblems, rattle canned rims, red l.e.d. interior lights, bilstein 5100's and OME 881 coils , deaver 8 leaf pack, 1.5" lift shackle, alpine sound system, 55w HID lightforce 140 and 170 fogs
Exactly. Which with all the abuse and water and snow and road grime the front of a truck takes its a decent possibility you'll need to get in there at some point.

How'd you know I plan on crossing creeks?

Good call on integrating it to the frame, lot stronger that way. How though? cutting through your bed?

Plan on backing out the bed bolts and tying the bed rack frame directly into the spots where the bed bolts are. Id, show you some CAD renderings of my latest version, but My graphics card in my workstation died so im SOL at the moment:(, there are 6 bed bolts in total

Ah got it, so just sandwich the bed in between the two. Oh. that sucks about the graphics card. That's why my 5ish year old MacBook Pro takes forever with AutoCAD 2014 though!

Well considering it was a $330 card I got for $170 refurbished I'm not complaining to much, the manufacture has a warranty on it so I just spend $15 for them to fix it. I also have a spare card, im just too lazy to install it, Yeah autocad is more focused on CPU power, which a 5 year old mac is lacking, I use Autodesk Inventor for 3d modeling which takes a bit of horsepower. I know I'm a nerd :D

I have used inventor, forgotten how to use it though :anonymous:

AutoCAD can do 3D stuff, my mac just doesn't like it haha.

True AutoCAD can, I just prefer Inventor for 3D and AutoCAD for 2D, If you need your bumper design CAD'd up for you in 3D I'd be happy to help, its good practice for me.

Yep. I'm hoping I messed with the connector somehow when I taped them up. They were fine until yesterday

Thanks! It looks like I can use 6 of the 10 bolts then without persuasion to my stock mounts haha. I might add a couple more just for craziness...

When you start doing maths on the amount of pressure grade 8 bolts can withstand, you start venturing into serious overkill...

Tis not the strength of the bolt, tis the strength of the frame ;) This needs to mow down moose remember?
EDIT but it probably is overkill none the less!
