New England B.S. Thread

Awesome. I have my eyes on a Super Recycler one of these days. My Dad bought a Toro Power Drive back in 1990. Supposedly he paid through the nose for it, but here we are 24 years later and it still runs even with my poor maintenance for almost 20 years of it.

This was my day today.


It works...and works well. The plate isn't perfect and I put a few small nicks in my console but I'm thrilled with how it fits.

 

Anyone local to me have a working CB that I can try to talk to them on to see if my radio works?

I'm have issues with mine. Made a thread here.

I really don't want to take everything back apart if I don't have to, it looks so good in my dash.

Also there is a old timer that has a shop on the west bridgewater / Brockton line right near the Harley dealership on rt28 . Stop in there and pick his brain . He's a nice guy and will help you out. He can tune and set it up for you can't figure it out .

 

Yeah, I stumbled across his name last night in my searches. I figure I will give it one more sanity check today and then stop in. I'm wondering right now if my extended wires are just dropping the wattage on transmit which is causing me to fail.

Grrr. I just would prefer to not have to pull my console and driver's seat to take the radio back out.

So basically he said I'm screwed and that he doesn't even want to really look at it since I extended all the wires. He said that I could spend $50 for him to look at it and tell me it doesn't work. I didn't really appreciate the pseudo-condescending attitude.

I wish I knew if I was transmitting weak or not at all. I really don't want to spend $100 to buy a new console to replace the one if the radio does transmit, albeit weak. I also don't know if it's worth the $50 to have it bench tested.

Ugh...FML today.

 

Update number 20483.

The CB shop won't touch my radio. Time for a new console and WX75. Sigh.

 

Why?

 

I cut my console to run the wires and this radio is most likely toast. In the midst of rechecking each connection.

 

Did that guy hook it up to a SWR meter?

 

Yeah. It's got one built in.

Rechecked every single wire and had a cut one. Connected it and I'm good to go.

Sanity.restored.

 

I think I saw 4 different Tacos with the same chrome Westin bullbar on my 20 minute drive home.

 

Nice. That would have sucked after all that work.
