When I bought this truck in February the airbag light was flashing at me. The Toyota dealer diagnosed it as a bad clockspring something or other. I was just about to order one and replace it when, as if by magic, the light stopped flashing.

    Until yesterday.

Is a clockspring something that might self-test bad, then good, then months later bad again? Or, should I go down a diagnostic road?

    Thanks

Well mine started blinking one day and never stopped. I made sure every connection in the system was connected. Nothing helped. I ordered a new clock spring and put it in today and still have the damn light....

Well, I'm right there with you. I replaced the clock spring today and I still have the light, too.

    You make any progress?

maybe a bad connection somewhere or a faulty airbag sensor not reading the right resistance

disconnect battery for a good hour then undo all airbag connections and check if they are tight and clean and add a dab of electric grease in them before plugging them back in.

I'm here to provide a bit of a follow up. I don't think it will be terribly useful for others, but I didn't want to leave a dangling issue.

I took my truck back to Toyota. Since I had already paid them for an incorrect diagnosis that cost me $150 to implement they agreed to diagnose it again for free.

This time they found that the wiring harness coming from (going to?) the driver's side seat belt pretensioner had every wire cut and twisted back together. There was/is a bad connection in there.

The good news is that the tech's digging around has managed to reconnect the bad connection and the airbag light is off again. When it comes on again I'll do a better job of splicing that mess back together.

Thanks to everyone for their help.
