Not advocating it, but I could see why some people could do it out of fundamentals. Paying a tax on something that was already taxed when it was bought in the first place isn't right...

Sounds like the death tax......aka when you inherent money or something the government taxes it even though it has been taxed already......but taking that extreme view....all but fresh bills have already have been taxed, so why even apply it? :cookiemonster:

But I don't mind sales tax, the government needs to make money as well.

Cause the wealth change hands and someone now has 10.5k in their name that they did not previously have. People pay taxes on game show winnings. People pay taxes on lottery winnings. It's all the same.

Why? I've never heard of insurance paying you what it says on your title.

It doesn't. So really it doesnt matter. the only thing it is used for is the sales tax, property tax doesn't go off of it either.

they will go for the lesser amount.

A previous coworker got a new-to-him car from a wholesale dealer auction.

I forgot what make it was, but it had a v10 under the hood and was pretty sweet. Through his hookup he got a 30k car for 10k. Long story short he totaled it in the rain and his insurance said since he only paid 10k that's all they are paying for.

Insurance companies are not dumb. If your vehicle is worth 12k and you you titled it for 9k when you paid 12, they probably wont give you over 9, even if the kbb is over 9 :p

Guess he should have read the terms and conditions of his insurance company. Pretty sure the majority does not do that.

Not that I really care, all of my titles show exactly what I paid for.
