    Had a 2002 DC, now a 2004 DC.
Thanks for all the ides guys. Time to get hopping.

Want to blackout my emblems--what is the best way to do this?

I have seen both taking them off as well as applying with them on.

My thoughts were to mask the emblems while on the truck, apply, and then use something like a toothpick to get the dip out of the small spaces between the letters. Thoughts?

If I removed them to dip, what is the best way to reattach them to the truck?

    Thanks!

I've never been able to retouch derp because of how bad the lines are and how scrunched up it gets. You'll just have to rederp it unfortunately

The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I peeled half of it off. I stopped peeling where the license plate goes. That way, no one can see the line because it's hidden behind the license plate.

If you want, there's a product that can help repair Plastidip. Maybe it could help?

How would you go about dealing with the screw holes? Cover them or spray over?

Welp, after a year of baking in the sun and abuse from the elements with no paint, my glass was getting pretty trashed. So I derp'd them with 6 cans of dark matte grey rust-oleum flexidip. It turned out alright I think. We'll see how it holds up.

Can we use those rust-oleum hand for the dip cans too? or it's only made for rust-oleum?

I was going to pick one up, but i wanted to ask before I do.

    thanks

I would spray over then use an xacto to trim.

Handle should fit almost any spray can.

Thinking of plasti-dipping the black plastic on the tailgate handle and around camera. It's pretty faded. Ugliest black on my truck..

Gotta look up taking it off first. ;)

edit.. Nope. Taping it off sounds much easier. This is plasti-dip we're talking about. Easy clean up

Not a Tacoma but it'll give some ideas to 1st gen guys. Gave my rig some eyelids and blacked out the corner lights. Waiting on my electric lime green and pearlizer for my badges.

    Why?

Why would you want to cover up legally required side marker lights? And most of all, why black? seems like white would match better IMO

I have to agree here. Looks like a ticket in your future with it like that. At least maybe a cutout to see the side marker and just do the perimeter of the light. While you're at it hit the grille. $.02

Because plasti dip doesn't black out light unless you put a million coats. And black because my truck is not white and it's metallic. Matte white would not look right against the metallic desert dune. The grill and bumper will be done correctly with trim paint so it's permanent.
